Two Hearts has a roof!! – A First Look at our New Home

House_0001After months and months of planning, letters, surveys, certificate this, boundary that, we have officially moved in! I won’t go into any malicious detail but lets just say our patience and emotional state was tested when it came to the final few days of arranging and following though with the move in date. (picture above is where our life has been stored for the past 15 months – my parents attic!)

When moving date came, we hired a van and filled it to the top with as much stuff as we could possibly manage and off we went to our new home 😀 We parked up outside, keys at the ready and lo and behold the “wonderful” lady who we bought the house from was locking the door behind her!? Great so she’s obviously still got a key! Number one on the list – change the locks immediately.

As soon as we opened the door we wandered round and snapped a few pics of the bare interior so we could show you all a before and after as time goes on. The room echoed with the sounds of our feet on the oak floor, and the sun shone in through the uncovered windows. It might be completely empty, but this is home! As we were taking pics we started to notice things like the up lighters on the wall in the living room had been pulled off the wall, leaving just the wires. The refrigerator and freezer were filthy, as were the shelves in the cupboards, the bath, the white walls had marks all over, the back door has been kicked in and shoddily fixed and the upstairs bedroom door has been forced open and not even fixed. Lovely. Luckily we aren’t easily put off and quickly came to realise thats its all just superficial, forget it, lets get the boxes in.

Several van loads later and the main part of our things were in a big pile against the far wall downstairs, and stacked around the walls in the front room. The bed was muscled up the stairs and into our bedroom by myself, my dad and my father in law. Chantele definitely outdid herself here, it only JUST fitted around the stairs and hallway but thank goodness it did!

Without further ado, here are the first photographs of our amazing new home! We are learning to love it more and more each day, and we can’t wait to share all of the house updates with you.

Two Hearts One Roof New Home Our all in one living room, kitchen, dining room – we love open space so this is perfect for us.
Two Hearts One Roof Bedrooms The master bedroom, with built in walk in wardrobe, and the second room with just as much wardrobe space built in!Two Hearts One Roof Bathroom The bathroom, with rather awesome bath!Garden And lastly, our insanely huge garden! This is taken from the bottom end, showing just how long it is, plus the river runs past the bottom. Its going to be a lot of work to sort out, but it’s something we will do over time.

So that is our new home in it’s bare bones state, we will keep you updated and show you what we are doing each step of the way.

Congratulations, your house looks absolutely beautiful. Absolutely love the wooden floorboards (it’s nice to know there are indeed houses around with no carpets!). Can’t wait to see the finished “product”! 🙂

Thank you so much! We hate carpet, lol, so the wooden floors were a huge selling point! It’ll take a while to be completely fininshed, but we will be sharing plenty as it progresses!

Wow, the former owner still has a key? That’s too bad. I’m sorry your hous-finding and moving experience was tumultuous with allt he paperwork and stuff, but glad you’re finally in there.
