Christmas Gift Guide – Gift Ideas for Babies and Toddlers

Christmas gift ideas for babies and toddlers

So I’ve saved the best gift guide till last, my fav gift guide this year, gifts for the little dude! Shopping for Elian for Christmas has been great fun, even though he will only be 6 months old at Christmas and not really know what is going on I will probably enjoy the day more than he will, but it is his first Christmas and it will always be a special one. We’ve tried not to go overboard this year but it is so hard! lol! Anyway here are some gift ideas for babies and toddlers for you all to get you started (just in case your struggling!)

Activity Toys

Depending on the age of your little one this could be play gym mats, bouncers, walkers or ball pits! Little dude has a ball pit as his big present off us for christmas this year as I really think it will be something he will enjoy playing with. He was very fortunate to receive this awesome Summer Infant Pop N Jump activity centre last week though. Although he is still a little young for it as it is suggested for 6-12 month I did pop him in it to see how he reacted. He is pretty sturdy at sitting now when he has something to support him and he is desperate to start moving now. He loved it!! At first he wasn’t too sure about the upright position but once he realised he could kick his feet about and bounce a little he really started enjoying it. I’ve loved watching him discover the 4 different toys too. First there is a ball which he can spin with little balls inside to make a noise, you could physically see him trying to work it out and now he will sit there and flick it with his hand to watch the balls bounce inside. The soft book has a mirror on one page and this is his favourite page, or he likes to put it in his mouth!! The apple ring is a rattle and the bee ring is a teether which he has just started properly biting. The best thing about the Pop N Jump is that it folds up like a camping chair and can be stored in a bag! Awesome if you don’t have room to keep a bouncer out all the time, and it means he can take it grandmas. Plus it has a detachable sun shade so it can be used outside. I can’t wait for him to get a bit bigger to see what he is like in it when he can properly bounce about.

Personalised Books

I am literally in love with this book and will be making more as special gifts for my friends little boys soon. This is a Lost My Name Book which tells the story of a boy/girl going on a journey to find characters which the spell out their name. It is such a stunning book which is beautifully illustrated and so well made. It is a real quality book that any little one will love for years to come, the kind of book you will keep and treasure as they get older. (p.s. keep an eye out for my 12 days of christmas giveaway! hint hint!!)

Educational Toys

educational toys for babies

Only one of these is for Elian the other is for a friends little boy, but I love the idea of educational toys. If they are going to play why can’t they learn at the same time! Both these toys teach little ones numbers, letters and colours as well as other things but they are still super fun and attractive to babies and toddlers. You can pick them up in lots of different places but here they are on Amazon if your tempted Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Puppy and Clementoni Baby T-Rex

Teething Toysteething toys for babies

I am so chuffed I found this fox teething toy! As you might know I love everything foxy! This toy is just so cute and has 2 teethers, fiddle strips and a rattle on it. I actually got lucky and found it on the Wish App for just £6 including postage! Score!! Although I can’t find them for less than £8 at the moment on there. I actually saw it in Jojo Maman Bebe a few weeks ago for £16 so I really did get a bargain as it was exactly the same toy! I hope Elian loves it as much as I do. Teething toys are a perfect gift for little ones as it is multifunctional.

Art and Craft Suppliesart supplies for toddlers

If you want to encourage their imagination and creativity then art and craft supplies are a great idea. Obviously they need to be a little bit older than Elian to be able to use them, but once they start being able to hold crayons and pencils then art supplies are a great gift that they can enjoy for ages after Christmas. Above is a Pipity Activity Case which is such a great idea for kids who love to get crafty either at home or on the go. This case folds up like a little briefcase meaning its fun and cute for them to carry with them, but once folded out it contains pencils, a safety scissors, a glue stick and sharpener plus an activity book to keep them entertained. Pipity do a range of different activity books so they can enjoy the case for months to come. Follow Pipity on Facebook to find out if they are visiting a fair near you or to hear about their newest activity books!

Useful Bibschristmas gift ideas for babies

We love our Cheeky Chompers Neckerchew Bib in the Two Hearts household! Elian is in a dribble/chewing phase at the moment although he isn’t officially teething yet. So he is always wearing a bib these days just to stop his clothes getting soaking round his chin. This bib come teether is perfect for him, it keeps him dry but also gives him something to chew on when he wants too, saving my fingers! The bib is made of 3 layers of super absorbent cotton, is reversible and comes in lots of funky fabrics. They also sell comfortchews which are fabric comforters with chew sections and of course Elians favourite Chew toy Chew the Hippo which you might have seen on our instagram or FB recently!

Christmas Bookschristmas books for toddlers

The Works has a great offer on at the moment where you can get 10 childrens books for £10 and in it are a lot of Christmas books. These would be perfect if you give your little one advent gifts or a Christmas Eve box, or just as a christmas present. They are all lovely big books with colourful illustrations to keep a little ones attention. I picked up 5 Christmas ones and 5 general ones for him. They would be great for little ones just learning to read too as most of them are simple stories.

Character Soft ToysOctonauts toy for babies

Little ones always have a favourite TV program or cartoon. Although I don’t like Elian to watch too much TV he does occasional sit and watch some, usually to calm him down in the car (as he hates the car!) or in the morning to give me a few minutes to make a cuppa and some toast. His favourites are Octonauts, Furchester Hotel and Go Jetters. So it is nice for them to have a toy of their favourite characters to play with. When looking for Octonauts items I found most the toys were small plastic toys for older children and the soft toys were very expensive (£25 for a 5 inch Barnacle!) so instead I bought the 3inch keyring and am going to cut the keyring and loop off! These are much cheaper and are actually smaller and easier for Elian to hold in his little hands! So what ever your little ones favourite character is you are likely to be able to find a toy they will recognise and love.

Sensory Toyssensory toys for babies

These are a great idea for both babies and toddlers and are relatively inexpensive to pick up. Elian is having a sensory box instead of a stocking from us this year. It will be a box/bag (I haven’t decided what to pack it in yet) full of sensory toys like light up balls, rattles, pompoms, scarves and glitter wands. Most I have picked up for a few pounds off amazon or in Wilkos so it makes for a great cheap gift.

This has given me some great ideas for Cora, she will be nearly 6 months at Christmas and I have been so stuck on what to get her. The fox teether is adorable (I have a lot of love for Foxy things too) and I want to get her a neckerchew as she constantly chews her bibs. The pop n jump looks brilliant! Does it fold down? I hope you have a wonderful first Christmas with Elian

Hi, I’m so glad you found this post useful! I am in love with the foxy teether so much!!
The pop N Jump collapses down like a camp chair, so it folds in at the four points and then fits inside a long bag, its great!

A good list here; it’ll be a fab add to the #ChristmasGiftGuide linky I’m cohosting.

Hmmm, the wish app seems like one to get – sounds like a good one for a savvy shopper.

The sensory toys and personalised book especially caught my attention.

That book is absolutely stunning!! I will be recommending it to everyone with kids. Its not a cheap print one that you usually see and the story is substantial at least 2 pages worth per letter, and its absolutely beautiful!
Wish app is great but dangerous!!
