Baby Led Weaning Breakfast Ideas – Banana, Honey and Chocolate Chip Muffin Recipe

by

baby led weaning breakfast ideas, banana muffin recipe

Sometimes I get stuck for baby led weaning breakfast ideas for the little guy as I feel I end up repeating the same stuff over and over again, mainly peanut butter on toast and fruit, which although he loves I think might be getting a bit boring. So I have started looking for other fun baby led weaning breakfast recipes that I think he will like to serve alongside his fruit. I found a banana muffin recipe that was super simple so I decided to adapt it to make a banana, honey and chocolate chip muffin recipe that was suitable for baby led weaning.

These turned out lovely and as I made 12 it means me and Jon have been enjoying a few whilst we work in the evenings too! They have been a big hit with all the family. They aren’t super healthy but they are still pretty good as most of the sweetness comes from the banana rather than a heap of sugar! But I thought Elian (and Jon) would really like the little chocolate chips too! Elian hadn’t had chocolate chips before (or banana muffins for that matter) and he absolutely loved them. The muffins are really soft and moist so are easy for Elian to eat. Continue reading

Our Little Dude is 8 Months Old!!

by

elian at 8 months oldEek! Where the heck have the last 8 months gone!? I had planned to do an Elian update every 2 months but I totally missed the 6 month one as it was just before Christmas and we were so busy that it never got written, so there are some major changes between Elian now and the last updated I did about him at 4 months old.

Elian was weighed a few weeks ago and he was 19.4lbs! My little chunky monkey! Although as he is pretty tall he doesn’t look very chunky. He fits 6-9 month clothing most of the time, but his legs are really long so sometimes we have to size up for the length. Continue reading

Baby Led Weaning and Slimming World Chicken Meatball Moroccan Tagine

by

slimming world moroccan tagine

When I received my Muscle Food hamper I was intrigued to find 2 packs of Chicken Meatballs. We have never eaten chicken meatballs before but I loved the idea of them as we actually aren’t big beef or pork eaters. I made Healthy Sweet and Sour Chicken Meatballs with the first packet of them (also slimming world friendly as its low syn!) and they were really delicious, very tender and moist. I would go as far to say I actually rather chicken meatballs to pork or beef ones! But I wanted to make something a bit different with the second pack of meatballs so decided to try a slimming world moroccan tagine.

This is the recipe and it came out awesomely!! On slimming world the Muscle Food chicken meatballs are 1/2 syn each so 3 or 4 meatballs makes the dish 1.5/2 syns. What is also great is that this recipe is also baby led weaning friendly. I cut the meatball into quarters and mixed the couscous into the veg so it got sticky and Elian really enjoyed it as you can see for the pictures below! Continue reading

Dogs And Kids: A Winning Combination?

by

new puppy considerationsHave you read the title of todays post? It’s totally a winning combination in our books. We were a little worried about how Opie would react to the baby at first as obviously he had been our baby for well over a year before Elian arrived, and had all of our attention. But we knew he had a great temperament around kids (after being around our best friends little boy) and wasnt likely to snap or bite luckily so we had high hopes. And I am happy to say he is absolutely amazing wit Elian, he will catch up to him and sleep, happily let Elian clamber all over him and hold his ears whilst trying to pull himself up, all without batting an eyelid. The only thing we have to stop is Opie licking Elian’s face al the time or Elian trying to steal and chew Opies toys!!

But obviously if you are thinking about getting a dog and already have kids there is lots you need to consider first. So today I have invited Ellie Mitchell to the blog to chat about what you need to consider when getting a new dog for your family.  Over to Ellie… Continue reading

Salted Caramel and White Chocolate Cheesecake Recipe

by

salted Caramel and White Chocolate Cheesecake Recipe

You might have seen my pictures of this popping up on our social media over the last few days (I apologies if they have made you hungry or crave something sweet!!) These little individual salted caramel and white chocolate cheesecakes were flipping delicious! I kid you not they are one of the best cheesecakes I have made, and I’ve made a few!! I used the Caramel Cookie Bites from Maryland Cookies to make the base for extra chocolaty/caramel-y yumminess! I could happily have eaten all of them to my self, but figured I probably shouldn’t so we shared them with my parents who loved them, and now expect me to make some more!! So you can all taste the yummiest too I thought I would share this cheesecake recipe with you all. Continue reading

Top Man Cave Essentials

by

man cave essentialsMen, we pretty much all love our gadgets, i know i do. When i was a student i had an obsession for hifi equipment and speakers and at one point i had a kick ass 5.1 surround sound system with full size speakers for the rear speakers, floor standing speakers for the fronts and a 200watt subwoofer. Having a movie night meant pulling out the speakers from the side of the living room and taking over the adjoining kitchen with the speakers and their trailing cables. Fast forward a few years and in our first home i have a slightly simpler system, the tv is hung on the wall ( i used to hate them being wall mounted straining your neck up) and I’ve got a stereo which stays put. On the days when Chantele would go out shopping, visiting or visit friends, id be able to make our house a temporary man cave with the volume up for movies, bass speaker on a few notches more and all of the window blinds closed and sit in my pyjamas for the day, pure bliss.

Kitchen Renovations Everyone Should Consider

by

kitchen renovations

I was recently looking at one of our very first posts on this blog where I talked about the ‘to do list’ for our new ‘first’ home together and thinking about how many of the tasks we have actually managed to tick off 2 years down the line…answer, not as many as I would have liked! But most of the jobs for my kitchen did get sorted out pretty early on (except my backsplash which has still boo be completed.

The kitchen is definitely the heart of the home. From preparing meals to entertaining friends to hanging out with a glass of wine or a cup of coffee. Chances are you spend a lot of time in there, so creating a space that’s both practical and beautiful is always going to be a good investment. Whether you’re changing up your entire kitchen or just improving what you already have, here are a few kitchen renovations that everyone should consider! Continue reading

Tips for Reducing Your Energy Bill and Keeping Your House Warm

by

Tips for reducing your energy bill

We may be approaching the start of spring technically, but it is still very cold, wet and grey in wales, certainly no sign of nice warm weather yet. So while the weather is still rubbish outside I like to hibernate in my nice warm and cozy home. Keeping my home warm and cozy though can sometimes impact on my energy bills. So me and Jon spent some time (and money) last year before our little dude arrived trying to make our home as energy efficient as possible.

Here are some tips for reducing your energy bill by keeping your house warm and stop it losing heat unnecessarily. There are some really simply tips which you can implement at a low cost, but there are also some bigger tips which might cost more in the short term but will save you lots in the long term and make a long term impact on your home.    Continue reading
