As you all know me and Jon run our own photography company which means we do most of our work from our home office, which happens to be situated across the back wall of our living room. We have a huge wooden topped desk made from an Ikea kitchen work top and Ikea kitchen cabinets, sounds random but it was the best way for us to get a really large work space for the two of us, and it perfectly fits the available space we had. It’s also a great crafting and blogging space for me and allows us to be organised and have the ability to interact with each other when we need to.
Working from home sounds like a dream to most people, and it can be great, but it can also be super difficult to focus on work rather than procrastinate doing stuff around the house, or get distracted by other things (especially with the little dudes arrival). That is why having a calm and productive work space can be really important, me and Jon have got some tips and tricks we use to allow us to get work done even with a 7 month old whirl wind in the room. Recently the people at Ellisons asked me what I thought would be the big beauty trends for 2017…and I laughed! Now if you’d asked me that 2 years ago (even as someone who wears very little make-up) I would have easily been able to answer you as I’d have read the latest Elle, Vogue and Marie Claire magazine and I will have seen a huge ton of the catwalks from this season. Now I’m a busy mum with an active 7 month old, trying to run a blog and a photography company, I am lucky if I open a magazine let alone get to read one cover to cover like I used to.
But it did get me thinking about the reality of beauty trends when you are a time strapped mum and I came up with a few things I think will be huge beauty trends with mums for 2017. How many of you mummies can relate! (Please note I mean this as a comic post!) Continue reading →
Even before my pregnancy I had issues with my joints. I have a long term injury with my left ankle due to an accident in my early teens and have RSI in my wrists due to the the amount of time I have spent on the computer over the last few years, add to that a hereditary weakened back condition and my bones are a bit fragile over all. So finding ways to try and keep my bones a little bit healthier everyday is quite important. Continue reading →
As most of you know me and Jon run our own business so have a home office (well a huge desk unit across the back of our living room to be precise), which can sometimes make work even harder, you have to be so self motivated to actually do work at home rather than going into an office. If your not feeling like working it is far to easy to procrastinate at home, watch some TV, potter around doing chores or just randomly surf the internet when you haven’t got anyone checking your browser or blocking ‘non-work related’ sites. Finding ways to keep ourselves motivated and wanting to work is quite important and we are always on the look out for new ideas to help make working from home a bit easier. Continue reading →
Sometimes you take a holiday because you want to explore somewhere new, experience something exciting or just have an adventure. But sometimes you take a holiday because you simply want to relax and switch off from the world…these are my kind of holidays. Yes I love to explore new countries and if you have read my 48 hours in Paris or Tips for taking a mini break in Copenhagen you’ll know I love to cram in as much site seeings as possible to really experience a city, but that being said occasionally I just need to take a relaxing holiday to recharge my batteries for everyday life.
Read my top 5 tips on how to take a relaxing holiday whether in the UK or abroad! Continue reading →
I’ve never really been green-fingered! In all the years me and Jon lived together I never kept a plant in the house (we never had a garden whilst living in Cardiff) unless you count the odd herb – which undoubtedly I probably killed within a week or two. But when we moved into our new home I really wanted to bring some nature indoors as my mum has always kept orchids and lilies in the house and I love the texture and life they can bring to a room. But in all honesty I didn’t know where to start or what plant to buy. My first thoughts were air plants, succulents and cacti as I knew they were easy to look after and I love the idea of terrariums (I still do, so it might still happen) but I just happened across some bargain’s whilst in Tesco the week after mother day and managed to pick up 2 stunning orchids in pots for just £3 instead of £15! Score! Continue reading →
So Christmas is just 2 days away, which means Christmas sales are only 3 days away (or in some cases only 2 days if you fancy online shopping on Christmas Day!) Usually I’m not a fan of big sales shopping, I just can’t be dealing with the crowds in store and I’m usually too busy working to have time to online shop, but that being said there are a few key things that I do look out for if I have a chance.
