Teaching Elian to Swim with Water Babies – Week 1 & 2

by

water babies Ok I don’t mean to brag, but seriously how cute is my little dude in that picture above! He is such a sweet baby and loves a cuddle more than anything else in the world right now, which of course I’m fine with as I adore cwtching him all day! But on with the post…we decided when Elian was just a few weeks old that we really wanted to take him to a swimming class when he was small. I grew up as a competitive child swimmer (unit I was 13) and even competed for Wales once (there is a radio interview somewhere out there in the world of me and my parents talking about being a sports star of the future but hopefully that will never surface!!) so swimming was a massive part of my childhood and I really want him to love swimming as much as I do (it might even reignite my passion for it!). Plus there is obviously the huge safety advantage if a child can swim and be confident in the water from a young age. So at 12 weeks old Elian and me took our first Water Babies Class with the lovely Sian!! Continue reading

Baby Wearing – Tried and Tested KangaWrap Review

by

Baby Wearing - KangaWrap ReviewWe had always planned to use a sling or wrap when Elian arrived as we love the idea of baby wearing. It always looked as if the baby was comfortable, safe and happy and mum and dad are able to carry on with their day to day with free hands. Wraps look a bit complicated to start with but once you have put it on a few times they are pretty simple to do, and your baby can sit comfortably and snug against your chest and be completely supported and safe.

We have been testing out the KangaWrap since Elian arrived and are loving it. Elian is a super clingy baby, he loves his cwtches and hates being put down (even when asleep!) which has been hard to adjust to in the first few weeks, trying to do normal everyday things and running the business is difficult when one handed and carrying a newborn, but the sling has made it possible. Our Day at Edinburgh Zoo

by

Edinburgh Zoo We spent a lovely (if a little wet) week up in Scotland recently visiting family and having a bit of a chill with my sister and her boyfriend (Briony and Andrew). Me, Jon and Briony have seen most of the tourist sights over the years of us visiting there so decided to ask Andrew what he fancied seeing, he chose Edinburgh Zoo, which weirdly it turns out none of us had actually visited before. There was a reason Andrew chose the zoo though, a secret none of us knew about util this point…he is obsessed with Koala Bears, and Edinburgh Zoo is the only place in the UK which houses them! Mercure Cardiff Holland House Spring Menu Tasting and Hotel Review

by

Mercure Cardiff Holland HouseLast week Jon and I were lucky enough to be invited to the Mercure Cardiff Holland House Hotel and Spa Spring menu tasting evening for their newly rebranded Urban Bar and Kitchen, along with a few fellow bloggers and local journalists, plus they even put us up for the night in a lovely room so we could get the full experience of the hotel. We had an absolutely lovely evening chatting with some fellow foodies and some of the staff from the hotel spa then a really nice relaxing night and some yummy breakfast, it was just what I needed at this point in my pregnancy.  Continue reading

Holiday Essentials for taking a UK Mini-Break when Pregnant

by

Holiday essentials when pregnant Packing for a holiday in general can be stressful enough, but add to that the fact that you are 30 weeks pregnant and you have a whole other list of fun items to pack. I found this out when packing for our little mini break in Scotland recently, I write a general packing list normally, but then I realised I needed to add a whole extra pile of stuff simply because I was pregnant.  For me these fit into main 2 categories: First there are holiday essential’s for your general comfort then there are holiday essentials that are medical based. One of the reasons we love Scotland – Scenic Drives and Beautiful Landscapes

by

scenic drives in scotlandScotland really is a beautiful country, and thats coming from someone who lives in Wales, which of course is also amazingly stunning! The scenic drives and beautiful landscapes is one of the main reasons me and Jon love visiting (and my family of course) but also one of the main reasons why we chose to make the 7-8 hour drive ourselves rather than flying up. The scenery when driving through scotland is just breathtaking, and it doesn’t matter what time of year you go, every season is stunning, whether in the dead of winter when the mountains are all covered in snow or the height of summer when everything is lush and green and in bloom. I suppose this time of year should be called spring, so most of the fields were just starting to come to life, and we were lucky enough to catch a few good days of weather, although even the rainy day didn’t dampen our spirits as you’ll see from the amazing rainbow shot Jon captured below. The Jam Jar Review – Bridge of Allan

by

The Jam Jar RreviewIf you’ve been following our twitter or Instagram feed you will know we have been on a little break to Scotland over the past week, and you will have seen some of the places we have visited and more importantly what we have been eating! Hehe! Me and Jon try to visit at least once a year as my aunt lives there in a little place called Auchterarder, which is right next to Gleneagles. This time we visited with my sister and her boyfriend and stayed in The Eagles Rest, which is a lodge park just on the outskirts of the village – I’ll review that at a later date, but today I wanted to do a quick review and sing the praises of one of our favourite places to eat when we visit the area which is The Jar Jar! Shake Shack Cardiff Review

by

Shake Shack Cardiff The new Shake Shack Cardiff opened just before Christmas, we were invited to their launch party but sadly due to my pregnancy I wasn’t well enough to go, so a few weeks ago they offered for me and Jon to visit and test out their menu for ourselves. We had never tried a Shake Shack before but had seen a few of our fellow bloggers posts on the launch party and everyone seemed very positive about the food, and we do love a good burger so we went with high expectations, and some intrigue as to what the heck ‘concrete’ was! (I’ll explain in a bit if you don’t know). Continue reading

Revolucion de Cuba Cardiff – New Menu Tasting and Cocktail Making Masterclass

by

revolucion de cuba cardiffWe are never ones to turn down some free food (and drinks) so were really pleased and honoured to be invited to a little blogger get together at Revolucion de Cuba Cardiff to test out their new 2016 menu and have a go at a bit of cocktail making (non-alcoholic for me of course!)

We had visited Revolucion de Cuba Cardiff once before for our South Wales Photographers Network Christmas Party but had only got to sample a small selection of their dishes as part of a buffet. What we did try then was all really tasty, plus Jon had a cocktail and me a mocktail on this occasion and we were both pretty impressed with how nice they both were. We also both loved the relaxed and spacious decor (thats the design geeks in us coming out!) At the time there was also a Cuba Salsa band playing which was great to add to the fun evening atmosphere, but we wondered what it would be like at lunch times as it seemed like a great location for us to hold wedding consultations and meetings for our business.

So although the blogger meet was to test out some of the new menu it was also a great chance for us to scope out the location for future meetings! Continue reading
