Sometimes I get stuck for baby led weaning breakfast ideas for the little guy as I feel I end up repeating the same stuff over and over again, mainly peanut butter on toast and fruit, which although he loves I think might be getting a bit boring. So I have started looking for other fun baby led weaning breakfast recipes that I think he will like to serve alongside his fruit. I found a banana muffin recipe that was super simple so I decided to adapt it to make a banana, honey and chocolate chip muffin recipe that was suitable for baby led weaning.
These turned out lovely and as I made 12 it means me and Jon have been enjoying a few whilst we work in the evenings too! They have been a big hit with all the family. They aren’t super healthy but they are still pretty good as most of the sweetness comes from the banana rather than a heap of sugar! But I thought Elian (and Jon) would really like the little chocolate chips too! Elian hadn’t had chocolate chips before (or banana muffins for that matter) and he absolutely loved them. The muffins are really soft and moist so are easy for Elian to eat. Continue reading →
Eek! Where the heck have the last 8 months gone!? I had planned to do an Elian update every 2 months but I totally missed the 6 month one as it was just before Christmas and we were so busy that it never got written, so there are some major changes between Elian now and the last updated I did about him at 4 months old.
Elian was weighed a few weeks ago and he was 19.4lbs! My little chunky monkey! Although as he is pretty tall he doesn’t look very chunky. He fits 6-9 month clothing most of the time, but his legs are really long so sometimes we have to size up for the length. Continue reading →
Have you read the title of todays post? It’s totally a winning combination in our books. We were a little worried about how Opie would react to the baby at first as obviously he had been our baby for well over a year before Elian arrived, and had all of our attention. But we knew he had a great temperament around kids (after being around our best friends little boy) and wasnt likely to snap or bite luckily so we had high hopes. And I am happy to say he is absolutely amazing wit Elian, he will catch up to him and sleep, happily let Elian clamber all over him and hold his ears whilst trying to pull himself up, all without batting an eyelid. The only thing we have to stop is Opie licking Elian’s face al the time or Elian trying to steal and chew Opies toys!!
But obviously if you are thinking about getting a dog and already have kids there is lots you need to consider first. So today I have invited Ellie Mitchell to the blog to chat about what you need to consider when getting a new dog for your family. Over to Ellie… Continue reading →
It’s few and far between but occasionally mums get a night off. And what do we do with that night off? Hit the town, dance all night, drink every cocktail on the menu and take a taxi home at 6am…nope!! We chill and make the most of a quite house to actually relax for a little while. Now I might not be speaking for all mums but I’m pretty sure I’m speaking for quite a large proportion of mums when I say that. Our lives can be so hectic and busy with our little ones that when we do have a few hours to ourselves (or with our significant others) just switching off is all we really want to do
So if you have a mums night off on the cards and want some fool proof essentials to make your night off perfect here are my top 5 tips. Continue reading →
Well Elian is at that age where he is starting to show signs of teething. Lots of his little friends already have teeth but my cheeky chap doesn’t seem to be actually cutting any quite yet, but he loves to chew! On everything and anything! This has been going on for well over 2 months now, probably since he was about 4 months old (he’s 7 months now!!) It started with him wanting to chew on everyones finger, not just family but pretty much any human in reachable distance! So to help him with the chewing and teething pain we have collected quite a little collection of teething toys. Some he takes to well, others lay in his toy box unused, here are our top 5 teething toys. If your little one is suffering bad and you want to find something to help ease their pain then consider one of these great teething toys.
Can you believe Elian is 7 months old already, time seriously flies when you become a parent! So for the last month we have been testing the waters of baby-led weaning, no doubt you’ll have seen his messy face on our Instagram or Facebook Page, or you might have caught little dude tasting some of his first foods over on our YouTube channel! I’m not going to explain baby-led weaning as the link above will do it far better, but it pretty much means you don’t give babies pureed food, instead you give them soft finger foods to start with and progress upwards onto normal foods as they begin to develop chewing, teeth and hand/eye coordination.
So far he has tried out a whole host of foods from banana and raspberries, to broccoli, melon, pasta and scrambled eggs, and I can hand on heart say he has happily eaten and enjoyed everything. The only issue I now have is trying to come up with new things for him to try so he doesn’t get bored of eating the same thing everyday! He currently only has breakfast and tea (just small portions as he is still breastfeeding) but I have now started to look for actual recipes for him, rather than just giving him fruit and cooked veg. If your looking for baby lead weaning breakfast ideas, or a healthy snack my Banana and Peanut Butter breakfast muffin recipe could be a perfect choice. Continue reading →
It has been so lovely seeing all the little cuties in their trendy outfits linking up with mine and Leanne’s new #MyTrendyTot Instagram community over the past week. I’ve loved seeing all the different styles and fun outfits we chose to dress our children in and it’s made my job of choosing my favs for this first week super difficult! But I finally made a decision and below you’ll see my first #MyTrendyTot stars.
My own little trendy tot has been wearing his new mouse dressing gown lots this week, paired here with his Aeroplane Pyjamas from TKMaxx. Cute and cozy which has been perfect for our stay in Bluestone over the last week which was a little bit nippy but very relaxing!
Over the last few months I have been enjoying instagram more and more, not sure if it’s because I am a professional photographer (Weddings and Newborns are my day to day job!) or just because its so quick and easy (and I kind of like to be nosy and see what peoples real lives are like). Pictures play such a huge part in mine and Jons life, and even though we spend our days taking photos of people, the majority of the time it doesn’t feel like work, so we still love to take photos outside of work too. If you follow our instagram account you will know I am all about teething jewellery. Even though Elian isn’t officially teething yet (no sign of teeth buds) he loves nothing more than to chew on stuff, pretty much anything he can get in his mouth to be honest, and this has been going on for nearly 2 months. I’m pretty sure he will start teething soon but for now he is enjoying gum chewing everything and anything, especially my new Black and Beech Theo Necklace.
I have a number of different teething necklaces and bracelets now as I have been lucky enough to be gifted some and won one in a fellow bloggers competition. They have become an essential day to day item that I don’t leave the house without, even if I’m not carrying the little man he will often play with one in his pram to keep him entertained when we are out and about. Even if he isn’t actually chewing my necklace he plays and fiddles with the beads, especially when we are breastfeeding. So having something specifically designed for his grabby hands instead of pulling on my non baby jewellery or my hair when feeding is great. Continue reading →
