Have you read the title of todays post? It’s totally a winning combination in our books. We were a little worried about how Opie would react to the baby at first as obviously he had been our baby for well over a year before Elian arrived, and had all of our attention. But we knew he had a great temperament around kids (after being around our best friends little boy) and wasnt likely to snap or bite luckily so we had high hopes. And I am happy to say he is absolutely amazing wit Elian, he will catch up to him and sleep, happily let Elian clamber all over him and hold his ears whilst trying to pull himself up, all without batting an eyelid. The only thing we have to stop is Opie licking Elian’s face al the time or Elian trying to steal and chew Opies toys!!
But obviously if you are thinking about getting a dog and already have kids there is lots you need to consider first. So today I have invited Ellie Mitchell to the blog to chat about what you need to consider when getting a new dog for your family. Over to Ellie… Continue reading →
When we first got Opie we weren’t at all prepared for him, at least in the sense of having pet and puppy things for him. Although we had been thinking about getting a dog we hadn’t quite got round to buying things as we thought he would still be a while off, but then we found him on Facebook and that was it, he was ours (5 hours from finding to holding I think) you can see the start of his story in this post.
The amount of things you need for a new puppy is quite extensive (you can see my Essential Shopping Guide for a New Puppy here) but one of the first things we had to buy were food and water bowls. To start with we just got a cheap one from a local discount shop, but Opie kept knocking them about and spilling water everywhere, plus they were pretty dull and ugly. There are so so many options out there for dog bowls that you can easily find a stylish dog bowl for your furry little friend. Granted some can be super pricy but there are also loads of stylish dog bowls on the market that are decently priced too. Continue reading →
This little man has made a huge impact on our lives since we got him 2 months ago, so it is about time he got his own section on the blog too, so introducing…Opie Reviews.

With the little man now firmly a part of this family and his stuff now taking over the house I thought it was about time to get him a more permanent bed (rather than his rush purchase puppy one) that we can keep in our bedroom. We have been very specific with everything we have put in the house since moving in, making sure the items we choose work with our design ideas and will last us, so why should Opie’s bed be any different. Our bedroom is all grey and turquoise so I went on the hunt for a stylish dog bed for our little fur ball. And was lucky enough to find the bed above that would match our grey colour scheme and still look stylish. Continue reading →
So with the addition of our new puppy, Opie, to the Two Hearts One Roof Household I will be totally honest and say we were completely unprepared! Although we had been looking for a puppy since we had moved in, we hadn’t actually bought the things needed for a puppy. We assumed when we did find the right dog to add to our little family we would have a bit of time between finding him and bringing him home. But this wasn’t the case with Opie. I found him on a Facebook pet selling page at 3pm on a Sunday afternoon, his mum and dad were family pets, all the other pups had been sold so he was the last of the litter who was meant to be going to the owners sister, but she had changed her mind so they were looking to re-home him asap. Jon rang the owner to see if we could go see him, and that evening at 7pm we were cwtching the adorable little excited bundle. As he was almost 12 weeks he was ready to go and he came home with us there and then. Continue reading →
