Back in June we posted about our first Simply Cook meal, which was their Cajun Chicken dish which was absolutely delicious! But we also fell in love with one of their other dishes and I totally forgot to blog about it at the time, until I came across the photos this week! So here is our second sampling of Simply Cook and this time it is their Vietnamese Pork Recipe Kit.
Again the herbs and spices came in 3 little pots and the whole kit came with its own set of instructions which are really well written and easy to follow. Now as I can’t eat spice we actually ended up leaving out the chilli flakes pot which your meant to add at the end, so it wasn’t spicy like it should have been but boy it was really yummy. The pork ended up with a sweet almost sticky glaze on it that was packed full of flavour. It was quite a rich dish, which is something Jon really likes, so the portion size was perfect as any more could have been a bit too much. Served over simple brown rice the dish was a great evening meal.
I love the idea of Simply Cook as it really does make cooking great meals that much simpler! It also allows you to explore dishes you might not have thought of before, or recipes that you would usually have thought out of your cooking comfort zone. As they make up spice mixes, pastes, stocks and other ingredients it really does take some of the hassle out of cooking tasty healthy home cooked meals.
