Easter Sunday 2020
Well Easter 2020 was quite different to our usual easter! I obviously thought celebrating easter without our little Ebben angel here would be hard, I expected that to be the big change, but celebrating it during a lock down wasn’t what we had planned either. But if I am totally honest it was actually quite a lovely, relaxing family day, spent just us 3 (and a furry one), mostly in the garden and chilling in the living room with the doors and windows open. We never make a big fuss about it anyway, just visits to the grandparents, Sunday lunch with my family and of course an egg hunt, the usual traditions. Even though we couldn’t visit the grandparents, or have a big family Sunday lunch (I didn’t cook one either!) we kept up our little egg hunt, but with a dino twist!
Ordinary Moments
I haven’t joined up with a linkie in many years to be honest. I always seem to forget who is hosting them or I don’t have relevant content at the time. But one of the linkies I do check out fairly frequently is Ordinary Moments by Donna over on What The Redhead Said. When I was putting this post together I couldn’t decided what category to put it under on my blog and suddenly thought of Donna’s ordinary moments, and it seemed perfect. I really want to start document our life again, try to regain a little of the old normal, the old heart of Two Hearts One Roof. So I’m hoping linking up with the Ordinary Moments linkie might inspire and encourage me to take more photos and write more posts about what is going on with our life and what we are up to as a family. So on with our Easter Sunday 2020 post.
Were going on a dino egg hunt!
To be honest Elian didn’t even really know it was easter when he woke up that morning. We hadn’t made a big deal about it on the lead up, and as he wasn’t in school the last few weeks he hadn’t had the usual easter crafts and easter story he would have had. Or conversations with his peers about it. But once we explained we were going into the garden for a dino egg hunt and we gave him his chocolate eggs from his grandparents he was pretty excited for the rest of the day. (I found a vlog from our first easter with him if you wanna see what dinky Elian looked like!)
Me and Jon don’t usually buy Elian much chocolate for easter time, sometimes a little bunny and some bunny sweets, but he tends to get plenty of chocolate off the grandparents, so we try to buy him a toy or activity instead (You can see our toddler easter gifts here from when he was 2 years old) This year I decided to get a pack of dinosaur excavation eggs as Elian loves dinosaurs and I figured it would be a good activity for him to do during the day. Once we got out in the garden and he started spotting them he got really excited to find them all and get them open to see what dinos were inside.
What Elian is wearing:
During this little lock down I have been letting him choose his own outfits more, as long as they are weather and activity suitable for that day, and he is enjoying having the freedom, plus he is lucky to have such a cool collection of fabrics and prints to choose from!
- Leggings – Rocco’s Rags
- T-Shirt – Sew Darn Cute
- Trainers – George at ASDA
Counting our eggs!
A final count of our Easter egg haul (just to make sure we had found all the ones I hid, and didn’t end up leaving a dino egg to be found many months down the line, or when Opie found it and brought it home!) There were 12 in the box and luckily we found them all again. The set also came with little excavation tools, magnifying glass, a little mask (which was ironic in the current climate!) and a set of cards on all the types of dinos you can find in the eggs. Although breaking the eggs turned out to be a bit harder than we thought, and I ended up doing most of the digging work, he really loved trying to match the toys up with the cards and me reading the info on each of the different types of dino.
Opie
And a final shot of my beautiful boy Opie! We don’t get many tidy photos of him these days as he rarely stays still long enough. But he is still incredibly handsome! He’s been a part of our family for 5 years now and we honestly can’t ever imagine our home without him. He has such an amazing temperament, and is the best pet for Elian. They totally love each other and spend so much time playing together, we couldn’t wish for a better dog. He still looks and acts like a puppy (any spaniel owner knows how much energy they have and how long they stay excitable for!) but he is also fairly small for his breed as he is a working cocker so people always assume he’s a pup.
It is a little bit different from normal, but it looks like he had a great time and lots of lovely gifts. Such fab photos xx #ordinarymoments
