Toilet Roll Crafts for Kids
Elian and I have been loving getting crafty during this lockdown period and set ourselves the little challenge of making some recycled rubbish creations, mainly based around toilet rolls! No doubt the majority of us seem to have empty toilet roll tubes in abundance at the moment, so they seemed like a great starting point for our recycled crafts and we are bursting with fun animal creations we want to try.
We’ve been carrying on our super fun and simple toilet roll bug crafts so far and today is a quick post about our toilet roll butterfly craft. If you’ve not checked out our Ladybird toilet roll craft yet go take a peek. And keep your eyes peeled for our Caterpillar, Ant, Dragonfly and Bumble Bee toilet roll creations I will be posting soon.
Plus if you also have lots of egg boxes why not check out our Egg Box Flower craft which is perfect for little ones and would make a lovely gift for Nanna to tell her your thinking about her during lockdown.

What you will need for this toilet roll butterfly
How to make a toilet roll butterfly
- First you need to get your little ones to paint the toilet roll all over and the wings. You can either draw and cut out the wings then get them to paint just the wings or let them paint the whole sheet and cut the wings out once dry (we found this method easier)
- Once dry cut out your wings and glue them to the back of your toilet roll painted side facing forward. Just make sure the bottom of your wings line up, or are above the bottom of your toilet roll, so it can stand up
- Add a pair of goggly eyes to the top of your toilet roll
- Cut 2 equal lengths out of a pipe cleaner and using masking tape attach them to the inside of your toilet roll to make antenna
- Enjoy your colourful toilet roll butterfly
