Toilet Roll Crafts for Kids.
Kids love a bit of arts and crafts, getting messy and covered in paint, glitter and glue is one of the perks of being kid! Simple projects to recycle household waste is a great way to entertain them, and we all need ideas to entertain our kids at this time, right? So Elian and myself set ourselves a challenge to try to create as many toilet roll animals as we could during lock down. We’ve been doing 1 every few days, starting with bugs! Todays is all about our Toilet Roll Ladybird Craft, but keep an eye out for our Caterpillar, Butterfly, Bee, Dragonfly and Ant crafts!!

What you will need for this toilet roll craft
- Toilet Roll
- Poster Paint (red and black)
- Paint Brushes
- Glue Stick
- Goggly Eyes (we have this multi pack which has come in really handy for all our creations)
- Black Card
- White Card
- Pipe Cleaners
- Masking Tape (or wash tape if you have some already)
How to make a toilet roll ladybird
- Cut a circle in your white card, I used a mug as a template. You want it about 3/4 of the length of the toilet roll. Then cut the circle in half so you have 2 semi circles for wings.
- Paint the toilet roll with black paint and one side of the semi circles with red paint, then set aside to dry
- Cut some small spots out of the black card, and glue them onto the wings
- Carefully make 3 small holes on either side of the toilet roll using something like a pencil or small scissors
- Cut 6 equal lengths from your pipe cleaners, about 1.5inch long and thread them into the small holes. Fold a small amount over on the inside, then use masking tape to secure in place inside the roll. Bend the pipe cleaner to form the legs
- Glue the wings to the back of your lady bird
- Add your goggly eyes and your done!
- One cute toilet roll lady bug creation!
