I’m not much of a fan of sweet scents in beauty products, I usually think they are overpowering and too sickly, so the idea of anything chocolate based in my bathroom is usually a big no no. But when I was asked by Strella Skincare and Fragrance Boutique to try out a chocolate bath and shower gel I thought I could put my preconceptions aside and give it a try.
The product in question was the Instituto Espanol Chocolate Bath and Shower Gel, which if I’m honest I had never heard of before, but I was more than happy to give it a whirl, so here is my chocolate bath and shower gel review!
Ok, so the scent is pretty powerful, and just a tad sickly for my taste, but if your a fan of chocolate or sweet smelling toiletries then your probably going to love it! The product lathers up really well so I didn’t need to use a huge amount of it, I think a 750ml bottle would last ages, and at £5.56 its pretty well priced.
Having used it for a few days now, I’d say it is really moisturising. My skin has been feeling lovely, soft and smooth, even though it still smells slightly of chocolate (which Jon and Opie both seem to like!) and it seems to last a good amount of time too.
Plus the great point about chocolate based products are the benefits they carry, especially for your skin (yes its true, chocolate really is good for you!) Heres what the website has to say about the products benefits to you – “Antioxidants and firming properties, bind to its moisturizing power, helps delaying premature aging of the skin, leaving it soft, smooth and elastic”.
So overall I would say it is a great product, but I personally am not sure I could deal with the chocolate scent for a long period of time. If you are a big sweet scent fan though, I’d totally recommend you pick up a bottle and give it a try.
