Already a week into our new year and I’m only just finding the time to finish this months aims post. My December aims went pretty well, and I’ve really enjoyed having these posts as a little reminder and some accountability for me to focus each month. I plan to write a post about my overall goals for 2021 but for now here are my smaller more focused January Goals
Family Life/Personal Aims for January 2021
Keep up our meal planning every week. Its helped keep our food spending under control and means we have very little waste as I only buy what is needed for that weeks meals.
Finish my book…Im determined to do it this month! Ive been trying to read for 15-30 minutes before I go to sleep each night so I am managing to read a bit. Granted its not the actual ‘me time’ alone that I would like as I am usually nursing Effie but its a step in the right direction
We’ve decided to start using the Team TOMM cleaning method to try and simplify cleaning the house and have an easy to follow process in place. So I hope we can stick to this all month.
Blogging Aims for January 2021
I have 2 blogging aims for this year. 1. to post more family/personal stuff again. I know this is the opposite of what is needed to make money from a blog, but its why I started blogging in the first place and I feel ive lost a little of my passion for blogging because ive not been writing about the things I really want to write about. 2. Quality over quantity! I want to optimise and make the most of posts ive already written, by updating them and doing some keyword research to try up the SEO. I would love to have more organic search traffic and passive income instead of relying on sponsored posts as this last year has shown how volatile the market is for paid work for bloggers
So with that in mind this months aims
- Carry on working through and updating my recipe posts to check new plugin and optimise the SEO. Im also planning to recook a few dishes to add better images to old posts
- I have 3 toy reviews I need to write, so I would like to get them all up by the end of the month
- Not blogging but a vlogging aim so ill put them together. I want to restart my YouTube channel! I know I cant dedicate the time to it at the moment to commit to a regular posting schedule, but I want to try and at least make a start because any start is better than not doing it at all!
Financial Aims for January 2021
We are doing a no spend January!! We have set ourselves a few rules but essentially its no spending money on anything that isn’t essential, grocery and bills. We’ve decided to paint our bedroom so new paint and bedding is in this months ‘allowed spend’ and we are allowed 1 takeaway/meal out a month. So first aim is to stick to the no spend, other than that my aims are the same as last month
I will continue to track my finances using the I Save Money app. This will be my 5th month using it and I find it great to see where im spending and what I can cut back on
I will be trying to stick to my £400 grocery budget again, but Im hoping to get it under £350 as we aren’t having takeaways
Hit my £200 side hustle goal to pay towards personal debt. As I have mentioned before, a few months ago I started following The Dave Ramsey Method and am currently on Baby Step 2. So any extra money I can make above my general budget money is going straight towards that.
Challenging myself to make at least £50 from surveys this month. Usually I aim for an average of £1 a day but I would like increase that a little and cash out £50 this month. This goes into my side hustle target above.
