The garden is one of the those parts of the home which tend to go in noticed during the winter. As the leaves die and our plants disappear in the cold, we don’t tend to venture outside too often and this is when our garden can become a little bedraggled and overgrown. Now that the winter is nearly over and spring is approaching it is the ideal time to get back out there and play around with the space. Today we are going to have a look at some ways to make your patio area look amazing for the spring.
Deck it out
The first way you can pimp up the patio area before the spring comes is to either cover the existing area with wood or create a whole new foundation and lay over some wood composite decking in the garden. The patio can be the ideal place for hosting parties in the spring and summer which is why it pays to make it look and feel brand new before the warmer months. Once you have laid down this new decking the garden will look stunning and you will be able to fully enjoy your space when it becomes warm enough.
Pressure wash it
If you have a simple patio and you don’t want to mess around and spend lots of money on it, a spring clean could be the answer. If you think the patio is looking a little worse for ware you can use a pressure washer to refresh the stones and make it feel brand new. It might not sound like it will make much of an impact, but fresh tiles in the garden can be exactly what you need to get the space ready for the spring. Plus, it’s super fun to do!
Weed it
During the year, sometimes the patio will start to crack and crumble, and perhaps the space between each stone will start to expand a little bit too. The best thing to do during this time is to weed the area and make sure that your patio is sealed. Weeding the space can be done manually or you can either use weed killer or boiling water to kill off plants at the root before pulling them out of the ground. Either way your patio will look ten times better once the weeds are gone.
Add plant pots
For a simple finishing touch to your patio before the spring hits, the easiest thing you can do is to add some colourful plant pots to the corners of the patio. You can have some fun with the plants you bring into pots for example by planting some small bedding plants or instead going for something a little bit larger such as a rose. Any of these plants can be ideal for the patio area and will add some colour, texture and scent too.
Make a herb garden
If you fancy having some plants in the garden and you also want to up your game in the kitchen, something which can always be a great idea would be to create a herb garden for everyone to enjoy. A herb garden can either be raised or within the patio as a feature and you’ll be able to everything from basil to garlic to mint and more. It will make the ideal spot of green in the garden and will also provide you with some amazing flavours to add to your summer barbecue foods!
Add furniture
Once you have laid down the best patio you can and you have taken some time to add plant pots and other fun accessories, it can be a great time for you to add some furniture to the space for guests. There are loads of amazing items you can buy for the patio such as a table and chairs, bean bags and benches to make the space feel like a cosy area in your outdoor space.
Make a fire pit
One of the fun things you can do in your garden this year is to add a fire pit to the patio area for those long summer nights when you all want to stay outside and cuddle up around the fire. A fire pit can be a super fun accessory to have in the space and it will make your whole garden look luxurious and expensive. You’ll impress all of your family and friends when they come to visit and they will love it!
