The first few months of 2022 seem to have flown by already, and the weather is making a turn for the sunny side! After what the last 2 years have been like for us all, I feel it is more important than ever for us to celebrate the small stuff and make a bit more out of all the family occasions that we can. So the next big occasion on the calendar for most people is Easter!! The season of chocolate, bunny rabbits, little chicks and fun egg hunts! And some alternative easter gift ideas!

How do you usually do Easter? Before Elian we were very low key, just easter eggs (church for me) and Sunday lunch with the family usually. But for the last 5 years because we have Elian I have enjoyed doing the fun easter egg hunt in our garden, dying Easter eggs and some easter crafting on the lead up to the day. And this year will be no different, I have my fillable easter eggs ready to go and some little chocolates and marshmallows to fill them with (lets just hope for dry weather) The year before last I hid Dinosaur Excavation Eggs in the garden as he was dino obsessed at the time and we spent the whole day digging at the eggs to release the little dinos. Plus I have done a few Easter Sensory trays to keep them both entertained over the Easter weekend.
So today’s post is a bit of a gift guide for alternative easter gift ideas if you don’t want a traditional Easter eggs. Maybe your vegan and want a vegan alternative, maybe your buying for a grandparent and a giant galaxy egg isn’t really up their street, or you want something non chocolate related and fun for the little ones, because ultimately you end up with way too much chocolate in the house (which you probably end up eating yourself half the time!) so here are some fun alternative easter gift ideas for all the family
Vegan Easter eggs and chocolate
If your looking for a vegan alternative to traditional easter chocolate eggs and sweet treats then look no further, Mummy Meagz has an awesome range of delicious vegan friendly chocolate and chocolate Easter eggs that everyone will enjoy. I have been lucky enough to test out their Christmas chocolates in the past and I can promise you they don’t disappoint and neither do their tasty Easter eggs. You can choose from their Orange chocolate egg or their Smoove Move mixed milk and dark chocolate egg. Plus they even have their version of a vegan cream egg, which is crazy good for any cream egg fans out there
Vegan easter cakes and desserts for everyone
If your planning a Sunday lunch for the family and want a little sweet treat for afterwards, or you’d like to give something to older members of the family and don’t really want it to be a chocolate egg then Oggs Vegan friendly cakes or cupcakes is a great option.
We were lucky enough to test out their mini vanilla cupcakes, their celebration cake and their zesty lemon cake last week and my gosh they were all so good! Jon couldn’t believe that they were all vegan friendly (he’s still under the impression most vegans just eat vegetables! hehe!) Elian absolutely loved the little mini vanilla cupcakes and I did have to stop him eating the entire pack, and both Jon and myself said the lemon cake was one of the best we have had, so moist and beautifully light….we may have demolished the entire cake in 1 day!
Alternative Easter Gift Ideas for Adults and Teens
Why should it be just the kids who get all the gifts at Easter! If you have an older teen or an adult that you would like to buy a nice easter gift for, but maybe you don’t want to go for traditional chocolate, then I have a few great ideas that would be perfect for you.
Garden Focaccia Bread Baking Kit
If someone you know loves to cook or bake then this absolutely gorgeous looking Garden Focaccia Bread Baking Kit might be the perfect gift for them. How proud would you be if you managed to bake something this pretty? It’s almost too pretty to actually eat. And this might be a gift for everyone as they may just share the tasty finished creation with you too.
Rabbit Themed Scarf
How cool is this Space Rabbit Scarf! It would be perfect for a fashion forward teenager or someone who really just loves something a little different on the fashion front, honestly I would love it and happily wear it (most likely tied around a high ponytail!) And whats better than also supporting small businesses at this time of year, especially when supermarkets get most of our hard earned money .
Easter Themed Antique Jewellery
A gorgeous piece of Easter themed antique jewellery could be the perfect special gift if you would like to treat someone for easter. This cute little golf chick brooch is the kind of item you could find if you’re looking at antique jewellery instead of modern pieces. There are lots of kitchy and fun easter themed pieces out there if you are happy to have a hunt around and they would make a great addition to someones jewellery box. Look for items featuring chicks, rabbits, lambs, spring flowers, little wicker baskets or even easter eggs.
Easter Candles
If you have someone who is a fan of candles then this little personalised bunny candle would make a lovely gift. You can have any message added to the label so this would be lovely for a grandparent from her grandkids. And it comes in a huge range of scents not just the Wild Fig and Cassis in the photo, so you can chose which ever scent you think they would love the most.
Alternative Easter Gift Ideas for kids
To stop going over board on the chocolate front (thanks to all the grandparents and his aunts and uncles also sending him chocolate!) I usually just get Elian 1 egg from us, and the small chocolates and sweets I hide for his Easter egg hunt, then I buy him a game or easter themed toy instead. Here are a few ideas for alternative easter themed gifts you could consider for your little ones
Coding Critters from Leaning Resources
I think it is so important for kids to safely learning about technology because the world we live in now relies so heavily and puts so much emphasis on electronics and our usage of them. Our days often revolve around screens, be it TV’s, computers, phones or tablets and children are no different. But I love it when I find a game or toy that helps teach something about technology without him needing to use a screen! The Coding Critters from Learning Resources are giving kids as young as 4 a basic grounding in how coding can work to move objects and helping them learn problem solving and spacial awareness. Plus Bopper, Hop and Hip are cute little bunnies so perfect for easter time.
Hoppy Floppy’s Happy Hunt Game
Elian has already been enjoying playing this little colour matching game with me this past week and I can see it will be a great addition to our games drawer for years to come. You can check out our review of it here. Hoppy Floppy’s Happy Hunt Game is a quick and easy game for 2-4 players from age 3+. The premise of the game is to use your Hoppy Floppy tweezers to collect 4 different coloured carrots from the forest but be careful you don’t tip your basket or let the other players steal your carrots! Its a quick and simple game which is great for little ones as I find it hard to keep Elian’s attention for long stints of time if a game is too repetitive or lasts too long.
How To Train Your Dragon Toothless Plush in Egg
How blinking adorable is this little Toothless Plush toy from How To Train Your Dragon. Elian is a big fan off the How to Train Your Dragon Films and the Rescue Riders series so I know he is going to love this when I give it to him. You can get the whole range of different dragons from the film so little ones could collect them all, and they come in a little egg that cracks open, which is both fun and a cute way to store them. I can imagine there is going to be a lot of imaginative role play of him hatching dragon eggs all round my house this easter!
Flora the Animated Bunny
If you follow our Instagram you may already have seen Flora in action on our insta stories last week when she arrived. (If you don’t follow our insta then you should!!) Flora the Bunny is an adorable bunny who flaps her ears, plays peekaboo and sings a song about her ears being so long…it is crazy cute and a perfect easter gift for babies, Effie is going to love her! She is super soft and simple to operate so I know she is going to be very loved by Effie and her big bro will enjoy pressing the buttons to get Flora singing and Effie dancing and clapping along as she does with most her musical toys at the moment.
Easter Themed Peg Dolls
Eek so I am super excited about this last one as I asked for these to be made for Effie by my lovely friend Amy who runs Maggie Makes. Peg dolls are perfect for imaginative play and sensory play set ups for babies and the possibilities are endless with their design. I have seen so many creative and fun peg dolls for all sorts of set ups and occasions and my friend Amy makes such cute and pretty ones I knew I had to get a little easter collection made to add to Effie’s sensory tray set ups. So I left her to the design side and just said I wanted a sheep, rabbit and chick, and she did not disappoint! How cute are these? She also makes beautiful personalised ones so get in touch if your looking for beautiful peg dolls.
