Well I have to say March was actually quite a nice month. The weather started changing, so we are having lots more warm dry days, lockdown restrictions started lifting in Wales so we were able to get outside, see friends and travel a little further, and my parents have both had their vaccine so everything is just starting to feel a bit more positive. Here’s hoping everything keeps going in the right direction over the coming months and life starts getting back so some version of normality, and we can work on our April Aims.
I will say I haven’t actually focussed much on my goals this month, I’ve just kinda gone with the flow most days. I still don’t feel I have the life balance quite right, and we still haven’t gotten to grips with the Team TOMM cleaning method as I find some days I simply don’t have any time without Effie in my arms or needing my attention to actually take 30 minutes away to focus on anything! But March had a different focus, which was my 300k step challenge in aid of the Swansea Bay Baby Loss Group which I am pleased to report I completed, but you can see more info below!

Last months original aims post can be seen here
So here is how my goals went in March
Family Life/Personal Aims
- Complete my 300,000 step challenge – Completed Very pleased to say I completed this challenge and managed 303,030 steps during the month of March. Overall as a group we managed to raise over £3000, which is an amazing achievement in 1 month and all the money will go towards refurbishing the quiet rooms in both Singleton and Neath Hospitals
- Meal Plan for the Month – Completed As always the odd day went astray and we didn’t cook the planned meal, but I meal planned and shopped for each week for the whole month
- Try 2 new pressure cooker recipes – Completed I tried cooking rice from dry in there for the first time which turned out delicious, and I made an amazing cheesy pasta dish!
- Sort all remaining boxes of kids clothes – Fail I did manage to empty 3 boxes and sort another 3 but I currently have 3 stacked in my bedroom and a further 2 in Elian’s room that still need to be sorted and either donated or at least listed online to sell. Ive started using Vinted this month so fingers crossed ill be able to use that to sell some more of the kids items
- Finish 2 books – Completed I managed to finish Blood Orange by Harriet Tyce and Fractured by Alexandria Moody (which is the 3rd in a 4 part series) I did start Where the Crawdads Sing but just couldn’t get into it so I may try it again at another time
Blogging Aims
- Update a recipe post – Fail I totally didn’t get around to looking at any recipe posts this last month
- Get 2 posts written – Completed I actually managed to get 4 new posts up…although I still have a list of toy reviews that have yet to be posted!
- Fix broken links – Completed This is a boring and tedious blog admin task I need to do every few weeks really. But I did it and got through the whole list it flagged. No doubt more will appear over time but for now I am happy!
Financial Aims
- Keep to my food budget – Completed I had originally said it would be £500 as I do £100 a week and shop on a Monday, March had 5 Mondays, but my usual budget is £400 a month….luckily I managed to keep to my £400 and came in just a few £s under, so that was great
- Make £200 on side hustles to go towards debt – Complete Yay I managed this for another month running. This month was mostly second hand sales, and I managed £313.24
- List items on my Etsy shop, hopefully get a sale – Failed or 50/50 Ok I didn’t get round to listing anything on my Etsy shop…but I did get 3 sales for my crystal gem stone bracelets via my instagram…so I could say I managed half of this aim!
Overall
So this month I think went really well. I managed 8.5 out of my 11 goals! and I feel that the things that were the most important were the bits that got done, so that is a positive for me.
Now on to my April Aims!
April is already looking like it is going to be a busier month, with us being able to reopen the studio for newborn shoots around April 12th (fingers crossed) so I don’t want to put too many goals in place in case we do have a sudden influx in work…which wouldn’t be a bad thing!! Lol! But here are my plans, some are the same as last month as usual
Family Life/Personal Aims
- Meal plan for the month
- Get back on Team TOMM or work out a similar system that works for us
- Finish sorting the remaining kids clothing boxes
- Finish 2 more books! Ive already started these so, it should be a problem to finish 2
Blogging Aims
- Post at least 2 of the toy reviews I have outstanding
- Start the Sensory Play FB Group I have been planning
- Try to check and update a recipe post
- I’m trying to improve my DA at the moment so I would like to get 3 new beneficial backlinks this month
- I’ve also realised my site has slowed considerably recently so I am going to be trying to look into improving that, but that is boring blog admin so I am not sure how it will turn out to be honest
- I’ve purchased a book about Affiliate Income from my blogging friend Neesha (who is totally slamming it on the affiliate income front!) so I want to read that and start implementing her tips. If you would like to purchase it yourself a copy, you can get it here and get 50% off with code ‘twoheartsoneroof’
Financial Aims
- We are doing a no spend month (I say we, its mostly me) so the plan is not to purchase anything that isn’t essential and planned for in my monthly budget. So far it is going well, only spends have been part of our monthly food shop budget, and money we had put aside to purchase a second hand backpack carrier, which was planned. Elian needs new red PE tops as his are too small, and Effie needs a sun hat, so that has been planned into this months budget, helpfully nothing else will crop up that is needed, so I shouldn’t be needing to spend on anything other than food and essential bills etc
- Earn £200 on my side hustles to go towards my personal debt
- Finally list some items on my Etsy shop! And maybe get a sale but we shall see how that goes
