I have always been a fan of a jigsaw puzzle. There is something strangely meditative about the simple act of building a picture piece by piece, and then that eventual sense of achievement when it is finally completed. Sadly Elian didn’t share my jigsaw passion, that is until very recently! Over the last few months he has finally started to enjoy doing jigsaw puzzles with me, and I am loving it
We were sent this awesome Mideer Space Jigsaw Puzzle from imoore last month and have had fun completing it a few times already. Elian is very much into space at the moment. He loves the idea of different planets, astronauts and rockets. He even had this awesome new space bedding from Bloomsbury Mill too recently.

Space Jigsaw Product Information
This fun space jigsaw puzzle is round in shape, which brings its own challenges when it come to completing it, and is made up of 150 pieces. The pieces are made of an eco friendly material, are 2.5mm thick and when made up the jigsaw is 52.8cm across.
Intended for age 5+, the pieces are large enough that they are easy to handle but are very different in shape, and you cant use the traditional corners and outside edge first technique due to many of the internal pieces also having a flat curved edge.
The puzzle is beautifully illustrated, with all of the planets in our solar system, as well as a number of other space elements. A perfect educational tool for children to start understanding space.
The jigsaw also comes with a round tub box too. Making it nice and easy to pack away tidily when not in use. Plus it looks really nice if you are planning to gift it to a child for christmas or a birthday.
Why Jigsaws are great for children
As with all toys, it is great if they are lots of fun, but its even better if they are also educational or help their development in some way. If a child is playing and not realising they are also learn then that is perfect. Play is one of the best ways for children to learn things, and jigsaws are no exception. There are load of ways jigsaws, especially this space jigsaw, help with a childs learning and development. Here are a few
- Fine Motor Development
- Hand and Eye Coordination
- Problem solving and logical reasoning
- Spatital Awareness
- Cognitive Skills
- Improved Memory
- Attention Span
What we think of the Mideer Space Jigsaw Puzzle
We absolutely loved putting this puzzle together, and it was actually far more challenging than I thought it would be at first. You don’t have corners and an outside edge to work off, like you often would with other traditional rectangle jigsaw puzzles. And it’s not just the outside pieces that have flat edges, as the puzzle is made up of rings of pieces lots of them have a single smooth side.
The illustration of all the plants is beautiful, and they are each labelled which means it is perfect for giving littles a good grounding on space and the solar system. Its all so bright and colourful and it shows lots of other ‘space elements’ like stars, comments, moons, rockets and spaceships, so is lots of fun… a cartoon rather than something more realistic which is great for younger kids.
I love that it has a nice tub to pack the puzzle pieces into. But although I love the round tub aesthetically, as it just looks nice…its not so easy for stacking on a shelf! So keeping it tidy and organised with other puzzles or games isn’t as easy and you have to waste storage space due to the awkward box shape.
Other Jigsaw puzzles we have been fancying
So now that I have gotten Elian into doing Jigsaw puzzles I clearly need to pick up a few more for us to enjoy together. Imoore have a great selection of other jigsaw puzzles for a range of ages and abilities. I am adding this dinosaur shaped puzzle to Elian’s Christmas list as it looks like lots of fun, and may be a good challenge for us to put together ourselves! Its 280 pieces and they are all random shapes and sizes which means it should keep us occupied for a number of hours!
And I also love the look of this detective puzzle. Once you have put the puzzle together (only 42 pieces) you can search the picture for certain small items, illustrated around the edge of the puzzle, using the magnifying glass included…it simply sounds like lots of fun!
