[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]We hadn’t been to the Cafe TwoCann before, but we were given a gift card by family friends after holding our Photo Booth at their party. They had been to the restaurant and really enjoyed it, and thought we would too. So it came highly recommended.
We decided to save the card until our wedding anniversary, which was at the start of May, so we could have a nice romantic meal out together. We figured as it was quite a small venue it would be nice and quite, so we could just have some time for the 2 of us. We weren’t disappointed.
Cafe TwoCann is located in the J Sheds in Swansea’s SA1 area, which is a lovely relaxed area of swansea where there are now a number of great little independent restaurants and cafes. We went on a weekday but figured we should book just in case as it is meant to be quite popular. It was half full for the entire time we were there, which give it a nice but not too loud atmosphere, but I’m not sure what weekends would be like as I know they book up very quickly, so it would be a lot busier if you went then.
Although it is called Cafe TwoCann, and it is quite simple and relaxed inside (lots of glass walls, exposed brick, chunky wood tables and leather chairs), the food they serve is of a really high quality, far more restaurant than cafe!
The menu is changed once a month so regulars always get to try out something new. It is uploaded to their website so you can check it out before you go too. See the current menu and all other info on the Cafe TwoCann Website. During the evening it is 2 courses for £19 and 3 for £23 which is really a very good price in Swansea for quality food.
Plus I did my usual Trip Advisor check before we went, and they were all pretty good!
On to the food![/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]We both had the slow cooked belly pork with chinese spices, oriental salad & plum sauce for starters, then I had the carrot, pea & baby broad bean risotto topped with grilled goats cheese for mains and Jon had the home-made beef & caramelised red onion burger with melted Mozzarella in toasted ciabatta, with sauté potatoes. Here is what we thought
He Says: I had been looking forward to getting stuck into a nice meal for a while, and i wasn’t going to let the diet get in the way 😛 I had the belly pork for starters. It was a good sized portion, really well presented and tasted absolutely yummy. Lots of flavour from the spices and a good helping of crackling on top. As is usual for myself i went for the burger and potato wedges. The burger was cooked to perfection and the toasted ciabatta was soft enough for me to take a big bite, no knife and fork job here, and you could taste the caramelised onion through the meat just the right amount. The service was excellent and i left feeling completely satisfied with breaking my diet with such a tasty meal.
She Says: I love a good piece of pork belly, and this piece was a perfect portion for a starter. It wasn’t too big that I was getting full before my main course, and it wasn’t so small that I didn’t really feel like I got to taste it properly. The five spice blend worked well with the meat, which was so tender it literally fell apart. The crackling on mine was perfectly crispy too, which I loved! I had the vegetable and goats cheese risotto for my main course, which actually came with a side portion of carrots, beans, peas and cabbage, I didn’t think this was needed with the risotto as there were already beans, peas and carrots in the risotto itself, but I suppose extra food is better than too little really. The risotto was really tasty and the whole baked goats cheese on top worked well with the flavours. I was happy that the risotto was pretty firm and not overly watery or creamy as I rather my risottos a little less rich.
Overall I loved the food, the service was really good, we had a really nice waitress (sorry I didn’t get your name!) but she was very sweet and attentive (without being overly pushy) plus she quickly sorted out a little issue we had with our voucher. The venue is really nice and relaxed, perfect for a mid week romantic night out. We will be returning to Cafe TwoCann at some point soon I think, possibly for lunch next time![/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”99″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full”][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_googleplus][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_facebook type=”button_count”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_tweetmeme type=”horizontal”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_pinterest][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]
Great prices for the meals! Happy anniversary too! & Thanks for making me so hungry! 🙂
xx
Thanks Jade. It was a lovely night out!
Sounds like a really nice place, food looks yummy and congratulations on your anniversary x
It was really nice, and thank you!
Any time and glad you had fun x
I love the look of the restaurant from the outside, doesn’t look like a typical restaurant. The idea of them changing the menu every month appeals to me because sometimes I love a restaurant but get bored easily at eating the same thing every time I go. Great review. Thanks for joining in #GoldenOldies via
It really is a great place, lovely setting and the changing menu is definitely a plus!
