Carew Castle and Tenby Visit

June 23, 2014July 10, 2020 Chantele 15 comments

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Carew CastleEvery year me and a few of my old uni friends go on a little weekend away to one of our parents caravan down in Saundersfoot on the Pembrokeshire Coast. It is a nice chance to have a catch up, as we all live in different parts of the country now, and just relax from all our days jobs. We always take a day trip to one of the local attractions, in the past it has been Folly Farm or Manor House Wildlife Park, but this year we decided on Carew Castle, as it is something a bit different.

It is quite a beautiful 2000 year old castle ruin, right next to a 23 acre millpond. It is great for a family day out, and your ticket to Carew Castle will also get you into the Tidal Mill a little further around the pond.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Carew Castle

Carew Castle

My favourite thing about Carew Castle is probably all the old windows. I loved that some still had the original stone window frames in them, but that nature had taken hold of them by growing through the gaps and the ivy trailed around the edges.Carew Castle

After Carew Castle we took a little trip down to Tenby to get a bit of food and have a nose in the shops, here are just a few snaps of the beach, which is beautiful, and was surprisingly very quiet! Tenby is so lovely with all the multicoloured buildings and the wide open beach, another great place for family outings.Tenby Beach [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Have you ever visited Carew Castle or the Pembrokeshire Coast? Me and Jon are hoping to get out a bit more this summer, even if its just the odd day trip to explore some of the local historical sight or attractions, so expect a few more posts on the beautiful South Wales Coast Line and its sights.chantele_sign[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_googleplus][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_facebook type=”button_count”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_tweetmeme type=”horizontal”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_pinterest][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Thank you Kathryn! It was a lovely weekend!! Been telling Jon we will have to go down when we have a chance, so many beautiful places to see, even though we live just 1 hour away we’ve rarely been!

Pretty sure I went here as a kid; we holidayed a lot in Wales and everywhere we went, we HAD to visit the local castle as my dad is big on castles, history and archaeology! Most of the UK’s castles have merged into one, but this one looks really familiar – you took some beautiful photos!

I had never been to this one, even though I have visited a lot in the past too! This one is so pretty!

What beautiful pictures, I will put it on my list of places to visit. I have a long list for when the kids have left home and the dogs are a little less reluctant to go into kennels for a week lol
