Elian Reviews Connetix Rainbow Magnetic Tiles

July 31, 2023July 28, 2023 Chantele Leave a comment

As you all know we are big fans of magnetic toys in this house. We already have quite a collection of different magnetic building toys, but this week we have been testing out this awesome set of Magnetic Connetix Rainbow Tiles. I’m a big fan of encouraging play with STEM toys like these – they’re not just fun but also promote valuable skills for the future. Learning through play is a big theme the Two Hearts household, so these are a perfect addition to our playroom.

Both Effie and Elian have developed a genuine love of magnetic building tiles, they’ve become an integral part of their daily playtime, sparking creativity and imaginative exploration like never before. They are the most used and versatile toy we own and are pulled out on a daily basis, whether to be used alone or alongside other toys. Elian uses them to build space ships for his Superthings, garages for his Hot Wheels and even Pokeballs for his Pokemon. Effie on the other hand likes to build castles for her My Little Ponies, and towers that she can knock down!

This set was gifted by Connectix for review purposes but all words, photos and opinions are my own

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE Connetix 62 Piece Rainbow Starter SET?

We were sent the 62 Piece Rainbow Starter Pack, but there is also a 24 Piece Motion Pack and a 34 Piece Clear Pack  set amongst a whole range of other sets. Included in this set are:

  • 4 x Large squares
  • 24 x Small squares
  • 12 x Equilateral triangles
  • 8 x Right angle triangles
  • 6 x Isosceles triangles
  • 4 x Window pieces
  • 4 x door pieces
  • Travel Bag
  • Idea Booklet

The pieces are a mix of red, yellow, purple, orange, green and blue colours. All tiles are made using non-toxic ABS plastic that is BPA and Phthalate free, sealed and riveted for extra safety. Which I think is great, that little bit better for the environment!

The box also comes with a travel bag that is perfect for packing them all away tidy and keeping them safe, as well as being great for taking them on the go with you. Plus the ideas booklet is a great starting point to get your kids thinking and building creatively. Prompting them on which tiles can go together to make different shapes and buildings, but with time they can just use their own imagination to build anything they can think of.

WHAT AGE ARE Connetix MAGNETIC Tiles SUITABLE FOR?

Magnetic tiles are usually suggested for ages 3 and over, mainly due to the small magnets inside of them. Although if they are being played with with adults I think even toddlers can play with them (we have a set in our playgroup that the kids love) as they are so easy to use and handle.

The versatility of Connetix Magnetic Tiles knows no age limits though! They are suitable for anyone over the age of 3, making them a fantastic option for children and even adults alike, anyone who enjoy a creative challenge. Jon and myself have always loved constructing with the kids. And with larger sets, the possibilities for challenging and intricate structures multiply, providing an ideal avenue for older children to hone their skills and immerse themselves in imaginative creations. This is a toy that truly grows with your children, adapting to their evolving interests and abilities over time. As they age, expanding the set becomes a perfect way to keep the excitement alive and the creativity flowing.

WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH Connetix Magnetic Tiles?

The creative potential of Connetix Magnetic Tiles knows no bounds! With an assortment of sizes and shapes at your disposal, the possibilities are endless. For Elian, the excitement lies in constructing an array of structures, from car garages for his Hot Wheels and futuristic spaceships and headquarters for his favourite Pokemon and Superthings characters. Not to mention, he even designs jails for the baddies (you’ve got to love those imaginative adventures!).

The versatility of these magnetic toys truly shines through as Effie seamlessly combines them with her other playthings too, crafting pens and zoo layouts for her beloved My Little Ponies and her zoo animals. It’s this seamless integration that makes them such a well used and versatile addition to our toy collection. So, whether your child is an aspiring engineer, an imaginative storyteller, or a master builder, Connetix magnetic toys are sure to keep their creativity soaring to new heights!

BENEFITS OF PLAY WITH CONNETIX MAGNETIC TILES

Although toys are meant to be fun, it is also great when they are educational. Or when they help with kids development. These toys are STEM based so are intended to be educational and work on kids science and mathematical skills, without them really realising they are learning.

Here are some of the main benefits of STEM based toys

  • Hand eye coordination
  • Spatial awareness
  • Improves fine motor skills
  • Understanding shapes and structures. Physically being able to touch and feel a shape, its sides and corners helps them understand better
  • Logical thinking and strategy. How to connect the pieces to make structures
  • Increases attention span
  • Problem solving
  • Early maths and language development
