Yay it’s that time of the month again, Degustabox delivery! Yum!! anti fungal med probably my favourite bit of mail to receive (sorry penpals!) so I always get excited when I get the text telling me my box will be delivered the next morning. There is nothing more fun than opening a box of random edibles, you just never know what you are going to get, but I can always guarantee that there will be a few things me and Jon will both love and a few we won’t be so keen on, but thats the fun bit!
If the whole Degustabox concept is new to you check out one of my other reviews or take a peek at their website – plus if you fancy testing it out yourself then my reader discount code can get you an awesome £6 off!! Use code ‘BLDEG15′.
So here is what was in the February Degustabox and what we thought of it, plus at the end you’ll find a my carrot juice bread recipe (for the bread maker!) using the James White British Carrot Juice I received in the box. It’s something a little different and inventive, but it turned out yummy!
- Hartley’s Jelly and Peaches in Jelly – I’m a big jelly fan anyway so knew I would like these and I have found them great when pregnant as a little boost when I am peckish. Plus its low in calories and one of my 5 a day with the fruit one.
- Sarsons Vinegar – OK I don’t have a huge amount to say about vinegar, its the vinegar we use anyway so there is usually a bottle of Sarsons here anyway. I like it on my chips and have used it in cooking when the recipe calls for it.
- Mr Kipling’s Cranberry, Orange and Oat Slices – I’m not a big fan of orange or cranberry flavours normally, but I really liked these slices and so did Jon. They are really moorish and far too easy to eat (like most of Mr Kipling’s stuff actually) so I will be looking for these again.
- Beloved Dates Bars – I love a good cereal/oat bar and I actually like dates when they are used in bars like this. I have been eating a few of these types of bars since getting pregnant as I find they are great when I’m hungry or feeling nauseous. As they are packed with healthy nuts, grains and fruit they are also really good for me and help get in some extra vitamins.
- Nutribix Wholegrain Cereal – I’m not a big cereal eater, especially not weetabix type things, but Jon is, so he has been enjoying these. He actually called them the ‘posh cereal’ as they seem a higher quality than most cereal, he says they are really yummy, absorb milk well and quite filling so he doesn’t need to eat so many.
- Vit Hit Berry Drink – We loved this!!!! We always both try the drinks we get in the Degustabox and on this occasion I was gutted we only had the one bottle as we both loved it so I would have liked a bottle to myself! We had the Boost-Berry flavour which is made using berry juice, ginseng, water and rooibos tea, and it is yummy!!! I’ll be looking for the others in the range to try too.
- Divine Chocolate Bars – Ive had Divine Chocolate before so I knew I would like. I had the dark chocolate bar and Jon had the caramel milk chocolate and they were both yummy. Divine is nice and rich, fair-trade, suitable for vegetarians and free or palm oil.
- Ritz Crisp & Thin Sea Salt and Black Pepper Flavour – I like the Ritz Crisp and Thins usually but sadly I can’t eat black pepper so these were a no go in our house, but they were greatly received by Jon’s parents this time, who enjoyed them.
- The London Crisp Company Sweet Chilli Flavour – Again i am a big crisp eater and have tried the London Crisp Company before and really liked them, but I can’t eat sweet chilli so these were taken to Jon’s parents too, and they loved them!
- Nari Juice – Sadly we are not a fan of coconut palm juice’s, (we found that out in a previous box!) and I really dislike anything with ginger flavour, so this lemon and ginger infused coconut palm sap juice was a no go. Sorry!!
- James White British Carrot Juice – I don’t drink carrot juice, or any veg juice, I’m sorry but the idea is just ‘urgh’ to me, so I wanted to find a recipe to use this in and a bit of googling made me realise I could use it in baking, so I have worked on a carrot juice bread recipe this month, which you will find below.
And here is my Carrot Juice Bread Recipe perfect for the bread maker,
