Eco-Friendly Lifestyle Choices That Your Family Should Try

February 15, 2022 Chantele Leave a comment

If there is one thing we can all do – or try to do, at the very least – it’s to leave the world a little better than when we found it. In other words, we need to protect the planet, and no matter what you do, big or small, to reach that goal, it will make a positive difference.

If you are looking for ways to improve the planet for future generations, turning to more eco-friendly ways of living could be the answer. It’s something you can do as a family, and it will make the present and the future happier and healthier. Read on to find out what you can do in this regard.

Have A Non-Driving Day

You and your family might want to set aside a day when you don’t have to drive. As a result, this might mean it will take some planning to cut down the number of things that get done on the weekend. Try to get the whole family onboard, however, and you should be able to make it work.

Make plans for a picnic lunch or to grill outside at home. Take a walk or ride your bike to a nearby park. If you want to have a pretend camping trip in your living room, you can even set up tents in the room. For one day a week, enjoy being at home and snuggling up with your family.

Buy Fair Trade

Do you look at the labels when you’re shopping for your groceries? If you want to be more eco-friendly, it’s time to make this a regular part of shopping, and ideally, you should always opt for fair trade products if you can.

When you buy fair trade items, you can be sure that everyone involved in the production of fair trade goods is guaranteed a liveable wage. Nobody loses out in the supply chain, not even the people who cultivate the land and harvest the produce. Furthermore, you can make a conscious decision to support organic farmers by making your purchases from them.

Buy Local

If you can locate a local baker, a farmers market, or even a seasonal food stand, try to purchase locally instead of trucked in. If you must buy something online or from a major retail shop, try to get it in a large container to reduce the quantity of plastic you come into contact with regularly. When shopping locally, aim to support local craftspeople. If you’re in the market for new furniture, look for cabinet builders and other artisans. If such a purchase is out of your price range, look into local upcyclers. Upcycling is the process of transforming a discarded object into something new.

Go Vegetarian

Doing more vegetarian cooking is not only healthy for the environment, but it is also excellent for your wallet, and you can find out more with Nicy. Of course, turning vegetarian or vegan overnight is not something that will be easy to do, especially if you have other family members to think about. This is why you can start small and move forward from there.

Begin your journey with a meat-free Monday. This is something that many people enjoy, and there are some fabulous and different recipes to try that will make you wonder if you really need meat on your plate at all. Once you are happy with one day a week, why not try two or three until you’re entirely meat-free?
