With baby number 2 nearly with us, it is time for me to think about updating my wardrobe again. Soon, I will be out of my maternity clothes and will need some breastfeeding-friendly outfits.
Nursing bras
Top of the list is a couple of good nursing bras. If you click here you will be taken to the website of a retailer that offers over 400 bras including maternity and nursing bras.
The chances are your breasts will change shape and size a fair bit, at least for the first few weeks. So, getting the fit spot on may be tricky. Just be sure to buy one that leaves a little room to accommodate nursing pads. You will need to wear them. This article will help you to select the right style and size for you.
Nursing vest tops
I found nursing vest tops to be invaluable. They are comfortable and practical. Provided you buy one that offers enough support you can wear them without a bra, while at home. It is so much more comfortable and convenient. I also like wearing one under my clothes, when I go out. A lot of women say that they feel less exposed when breastfeeding in public while wearing one.
These little tank tops are good for sleeping in too. So, my advice would be to buy a few. Once you know which style works best, you can buy a stack of them.
A few loose-fitting tops
You do not have to restrict what you wear as much as you think when you are breastfeeding. It is possible to buy tops that are specifically designed for nursing mums, but you do not have to.
Really, you just need to wear tops and dresses that are loose enough to enable you to move your clothing out of the way when it is time to breastfeed. Button-down blouses and wrap dresses are particularly good choices. Crossover tops work particularly well. V-necks can also make things easier.
The softer the fabric is the better. It is far easier to move it aside when it is time to feed your baby.
Trying on breastfeeding clothes
Whether you order your clothes online or go online be sure to wear a nursing bra when trying things on. Actually, taking the time to find out how easy it is to get into feeding mode and making sure you feel comfortable will save you a lot of hassle. If something does not quite work for you send it back. Not being able to hold your baby comfortably because you have to use one hand to hold your top out of the way is far from ideal when breastfeeding.
