Fathers day is fast approaching and you’ve probably started thinking about what to get for the special men in your life. Be it your Dad, Partner or Grandfather. I find men are the hardest people to buy for usually. Unless they have a specific hobby you can buy for, thinking of different gifts each year can get tricky.
Now Jon doesn’t really have any hobbies, so he can be particularly difficult to buy for. And I hate getting him the stereotypical ‘DAD’ emblazoned gifts…how many pairs of socks, pjs and mugs can your dad really have! So we tend to steer clear of them usually. But I actually love the challenge of finding the perfect gift for people, and find thinking out of the box is usually the key.

Jon is a bit of a foodie so anything food related is likely to be a hit. We don’t have a lot of patio space in our garden or any sort of storage space outside so a full BBQ has never been an option. This Table Top Portable BBQ is a great alternative for those with a lack of outdoor space. Plus what man doesn’t love a bit of BBQ’ing. The BBQ is easily portable which means it will be great for taking on day trips to the beach and our annual trip to Bluestone.
And to go with the awesome BBQ you are going to need some good quality BBQ utensils like these ones from Traeger. The stainless steel tongs and spatular are made to last, with strong teak wood handles and leather hanging hoops to make them easy to store. You’ll be flipping and turning food in style.
Plus if you’re planning to BBQ up a storm then these dry rubs will be the perfect accompaniment to add some extra flavour and spice to your meats (and veggies!) Traeger have a whole range of these rubs available depending on what meats you are planning to cook and what spice level you like. They are perfect for grilling, roasting or smoking, so not just great on the BBQ!
If you think the man you’re buying for would appreciate some innovative and super stylish cookware look no further than Hokan Bowls. These sustainable, stylish, stackable, stoneware bowls and lids are oven, microwave, freezer and dishwasher safe. Plus they come in a range of block colours and 3 different sizes. If you like your kitchen minimal and streamlined then these would be a brilliant addition.
Sticking with the cooking theme, maybe you’ve a dad in your life who loves to spend some time in the kitchen, or just has a love for curry’s! Then this Spice Pots gift set might be a great gift idea. These little pots of premixed herbs and spices pack a punch and help you to cook authentic Indian dishes with ease! This set contains Korma, Goan Curry, Tandoori Masala and Bhuna Curry Spice mixes. And the set contains enough spices to make at least 8 family meals.
A hamper always makes for a great gift idea and this Fathers Day Hamper from Tracklements is a great option. This years Fathers Day box contains Proper Tomato Ketchup (which is banging, take it from me!) You’ll find some great chocolate hampers and gift box selections ofer on their websites so you are sure to be able to find one your dad will love! If dad is interested in fitness and is keeping an eye on his sugar intake then some little treats from Pulsin would make a great gift. They have a huge range of protein shakes that are perfect as a before or after gym treat. A range of flavours and different protein types from Soya, Hemp and Rice to Pea, Whey and Faba Bean.
And if they would like a sweet treat then some bags of Plantain Chips from Purely or something chocolatey from Livia’s would make a great addition to a hamper. And everything is vegan friendly so perfect for all dietary requirements. I can personally vouch for those Million Squares, they are delicious!
On the other hand if dad is a movie and munchies fan then some seriously tasty Gourmet Popcorn from Joe and Seph’s might hit that sweet spot. And with their brand new range of Fathers Day flavours, including Marmite, Budweiser, Goats Cheese and Black Pepper, Madras Curry and Brew Dog Ale and the new Chocolate Popcorn Slab you can really treat dad to a taste sensation. Why not make a movie night hamper with his favourite DVD and some beer, or a cinema voucher for a fun night out for all the family.
If your dad likes a good quality spirit to drink then consider Goslings Black Seal Bermudan Black Rum. Made from a 150-year-old Gosling family recipe, it uses the finest distillates aged in charred American oak casks. The smooth, full flavor is the result of a careful blend of aged pot still and continuous still distillates. Black Seal has a rich, intricate flavour, well balanced and nuanced with butterscotch, vanilla and caramel.
As an alternative to alcoholic beer maybe your dad would rather a Ginger Beer. The ones from Luscombe are multi-award-winning and made using whole roots of fiery organic Peruvian ginger, balanced with a dash of organic Sicilian lemon and sparkling Dartmoor spring water drawn from a source on the farm in Devon where they make their drinks. The stock 3 different varieties: Hot Ginger Beer, Cool Ginger Beer and Passionate Ginger Beer depending on how fiery you like your drink. These are perfect for relaxing summer evenings in the garden.

How amazing is this Vintage Playing Card Bottle Opener! Wouldn’t it make the perfect addition to your dads man cave or BBQ area. Its got a cool retro and rustic look to it, and it comes with all the fittings to pop it straight on the wall. This one says CHEERS but they have a range of different words or you can even get a personalised one! This unique bottle opener has been recycled from pallets and vintage cards. It contains a magnet inserted underneath the cards so that your bottle top is cleverly caught when it falls. No need to bend down and pick up the tops.
Fentimans is a name known for its botanical beverages which can be drunk alone or make a great addition to spirits and cocktails. They have a great range of flavour options from traditional Cola, lemonade, Ginger Beer and Dandelion and Burdock to more unusual Mandarin and Seville Orange, Light Rose Lemonade, Sparkling Raspberry and Pink Rhubarb Tonic! They would make a fun addition to a drinks cabinet or be a unique flavour to add to a self made hamper!
My father in law is a big fan of quality whiskey, so ever Christmas and birthday Jon and I aim to buy him a different bottle. We’ve even brought them back from our holidays away to allow him to have a brand he may not have tried before. So to pair with these whiskeys he now has a lovely personalised engraved whiskey glass from the grandkids. This is a lovely personalised item that will be treasured for years to come no doubt.
How cool does this Exotic Rainbow Hip Flask look! Perfect if your dad likes to take a little tipple to events, parties, festivals or just for the family BBQ! The Clothes Doctor Mens Wear Kit is the ultimate gift for any dad who likes to dress sharp and keep his suits in tip top condition. If he wears a suit for work or simply has a passion for great tailoring and fashion then this is the gift for him. Well made tailored suits can be expensive, as can good quality shoes, so the last thing you want to do is damage them when washing (dry cleaning may not always be an option and it can get pricey!) This set from the Clothes Doctor is specifically designed for washing and cleaning mens wear to keep them looking fresh and brand new for longer.
Featuring their Eco Wash Signature Detergent, Eco Wash for Sportswear and Tough Love Stain Removal. Their ultimate menswear companion also includes the Leather Care Kit, perfect for footwear, a Natural Bristle Clothes Brush, Cashmere Comb in Red Cedarwood and a set of 2 Natural Fragrance Bags, to refresh your wardrobe while deterring moths too.
It’s not just women who love candles. Men love candles too, sometimes you just need a more masculine scent! This Dream and Cocoon candle from The Copenhagen Company comes in a beautiful dark blue glass holder and the scent is stunning! With Citrus, Floral and Sandalwood notes it is a great combination.
If you father loves nature and the outdoors a great gift could be a beautiful bird feeder and some high quality bird seed and fat balls. Perfect to attracted some native wild birds to your parents garden, and maybe a squirrel or 2! My dad loves to watch the birds in his garden, he has set up lots of different feeders and bird boxes where him and my mum can see them from their living room and conservatory, so I know he will definitely appreciate the new Henry Bell bird feeder and seed mix we have for him.
A wallet is a bit of an obvious gift for fathers day, but you can make it a more personalised gift by having it embossed like this elegant Black Leather Wallet from the Engravers Guild. It’s always good to have a gift that is practical and you know can easily be used. I mean what man doesn’t need and use a wallet. They have a range of styles and finishes to chose from so your able to find him the perfect wallet. Whether he’s someone who simply carries cash and an ID or someone who has a huge range of loyalty cards and different membership cards.
I actually picked this cool mug up from B&M for my dad off the kids. Yes, a mug is a stereotypical Fathers Day gift idea but if your dad is genuinely a big tea or coffee drinker (I think my dads veins are probably running with at least 50% tea! haha!) then you cant really go wrong with a nice new mug. I usually buy the Grandparents a new personalised mug with photos of the kids at Christmas anyway, but I saw this one and thought it would be a cute extra gift for my dad.
Another little find in B&M was this lovely metal water bottle. Jon and I both use metal water bottle on a daily basis and we tend to take extras out with us when we are working weddings. So I thought he would love this cute ‘Best Dad Ever’ metal water bottle off the kids this year.
Does your dad have a little space of his own at home, a man cave in the house, a garage he loves or maybe a shed in the garden (dads all love a shed don’t they!) Well maybe this cool ‘Dad’s Man Cave’ Doormat would be a great little addition to his space. It helps show that you know the space is his domain and it will help keep the floors a little bit more clean and tidy!
Jon loves having greenery in our home just as much as I do. So he has loved the idea of adding a potted plant or 2 to his office. Using a cool bearded planter like this Hubert Planter is a slightly more fun masculine way to add some nature to a home office or bedroom space. These come in a few different styles so you could have a whole shelf of beaded planters with a range of easy to grow cacti or succulents.
Vex Gift Card is the all round gift card for the man you really have no idea what to buy! You can buy a physical or digital card so it can be delivered to their door or their inbox! Great if your wanting to send it across country! The Vex card is redeemable at over 150 different online stores and includes most of the big highstreet brands such as Curry’s, Boots, B&Q, Asda, Marks & Spencers, Home Sense, Amazon, lots of restaurants, travel companies and other stores. It really is the perfect for everyone gift.
A Readly Subscription is great if you have someone who has lots of hobbies or passions! This magazine subscription gives them access to over 6000 different magazine titles. Honestly this is a gift that is great for everyone! I would personally love this as magazines have gotten very expensive, so I won’t pick them up like I used to with my food shop. This allows me to read numerous magazines a month, and not feel guilty if I only read a few articles rather than the whole magazine. Plus they might discover a new magazine they haven’t seen in the shops. Any you can have numerous profiles set up so it can be enjoyed by the whole household!
Even with all the technology we have in our house Jon is still very much a pen and paper guy when it comes to lists, notes and keeping himself organised with the business. So I knew a beautiful personalised pen like this Parker Jotter Pen Set from Pen Heaven would be a big hit. The pen arrived personalised with my message to Jon, presented in a lovely Cross box and with a navy blue leather pen sleeve to keep it safe when out and about. This is a gift that will be treasured for years to come and is perfect for anyone who still likes to do some old school note taking.
So if you have a fancy new pen then a crisp new notebook is the obvious accompaniment! Ryman have load of options available and you can have them personalised. I chose this ring bound lined notebook with Jons Initials, but there are leather cover versions, pocket notebooks and extra large ones perfect for all occasions. Yes you can write lists and such on your phone, but nothing beats a proper hand written to-do list or brain dump!
If your hubby is a big kid at heart, or likes to get out and have fun with the kids then maybe an Adult Commuter Scooter is the perfect fun gift. I’m sure the kids would love to gift this to dad so he can join them on a scoot around the park. This one is the FRENZY 205MM DUAL BRAKE PLUS TITANIUM SILVER FOLDING COMMUTER SCOOTER and is perfect for adults as it can take weight up to 220lbs, has an adjustable height handle bars, Lightened Fender Brake, Kick Stand and Carry Strap.
(I may have already taken it out for a little test ride and can honestly say I blinking loved it, so Jon will have to share it…if he can get it off me, haha! Elian loves that we are all able to scoot together now)
I think my favourite item I have for Jon for Fathers Day this year is actually this Rock On Headphone Stand. Jon is a bit of a sound snob when it comes to speakers and headphones so owns a very nice pair of over head headphones which are usually rested on top of our stereo stand. This way he can pop them on the stand so they are on display in a cool way and it will keep them safe and tidy…and out of reach of little hands too!
Ticket to Ride London Edition is a great game for all the family to enjoy. We have started having family days on a Sunday where we put down the devices and no TV until a movie and pizza before bed. So if we are spending the day at home we love to get out the board games. Elian is finally at an age where he can play board games and gets most of the rules once he has been taught them. This is a family friendly cross city bus route game. Collect cards, claim routes, and draw tickets to race across the map of 1970s London. Complete a game in no more than 15 minutes its great to play with younger ones as well as adults.
If you’ve a budding gardener to buy for then this Salad Patch Seed Cell selection box is the perfect beginners veg growing kit. It comes with 12 nifty little Seed Cells (3 of each lettuce, cucumber, tomato and rocket) which are plastic free biodegradable seed pods containing multiple seeds, which guarantee germination and growth! It makes growing veg super simple and perfect for smeller gardens or windowsill growers. They have a huge selection of other selection boxes too, with a mixture of herb and vegetable seeds.
Shaving gifts are also always a big hit in this house. With Jon having a goatee it means he shaves the rest of his face often, so a good quality razor is a must for him. Gillette razors are still the leading brand on the market so I know that they will always be great quality and happily received as a gift by Jon. The latest Gillette Labs Razor has an exfoliating bar and comes with a magnetic stand to help keep it clean and in great condition for longer. The exfoliation bar removes dirt and debris, such as dead skin cells, before the blades pass, thereby allowing for a close and accurate shave.
