Are you looking for something fun to add to your children’s Easter gifts that doesn’t involve sugar? Then this cute little bunny game could be perfect! The Hoppy Floppy’s Happy Hunt Game from Learning Resources is a lovely little game that all the family can enjoy. And we have been enjoying playing it over the last few weeks.
Sometimes kids can receive way too much chocolate at easter time. With parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, godparents and friends all purchasing Easter eggs or treats, it can get a little overwhelming on the sugar front. So more parents are trying to limit the chocolate intake and are instead purchasing non edible gifts for their little ones. Personally I love trying to find some fun games or something different to the usual easter things to add to Elian’s Easter basket. Last year I bought him the Sheep Brick Headz Lego set and it still has pride of place on the shelves in their play area nearly a year on.
So I think the little game I am writing about today is the perfect easter game to add to your kids easter baskets. Read on to find out what we thought of it, and why it’s such a great game.

Hoppy Floppy’s Happy Hunt Game
The game includes a colourful game board (the interior of the box), spinner, 16 coloured plastic carrots, a hoppy floppy tweezers and 4 baskets. The game is intend for 2-4 players, aged 3+ (although Effie is now getting interested and has managed to join in on a few occasions, but due to the small parts its not advised under 3, but we supervise her when playing)
This fun bunny themed game is ideal for developing a variety of early year’s skills as players use the themed tweezers to select the appropriate carrots from the game box. The first player to successfully fill their basket with four different carrots wins, but be careful, the game spinner is full of obstacles for young learners to tackle.
What we thought of Hoppy Floppy’s Happy Hunt Game
Honestly we loved this easy to play game, and it’s already been played many times. It’s great that Elian and myself can play it alone, or the whole family can join in. Plus as it only takes a few minutes to play each round to conclusion it means Elian didn’t lose interest. Its a good one if you only have a few minutes to spare and don’t want to spend ages setting up a game or playing to the end (Monopoly Im looking at you!)
Also a big hit with me…it all packs into the small box so is easy to tidy up and store, plus Elian has taken it to his grandparents with him as it is small and light for his bag. It would make a really great travel game for a UK Staycation or if family want to post some easter gifts it is perfect for that too.
See what we got up to last easter
THE BENEFITS OF THIS GAME for Children
I am always a fan of toys that allow for the chance for little ones to learn whilst playing. Luckily most toys made for kids allow learning in some form or another. And this game is no different. Thanks to the bunny tweezers you use to play the game it actually offers quite a number of learning and development opportunities.
So here are a few of the great reasons you should get your little ones the Hoppy Floppy’s Happy Hunt Game for their easter gift basket.
- Developing and improving fine motor skills – The hoppy floppy tweezers are perfect for encouraging and strengthening the pincer grip which is important and needed for so many things as kids get older (pencil grip, cutlery grip, etc)
- Colour Recognition – Working out which carrots are still needed to win the game and which ones other players have
- Hand eye coordination – Being able to pick up the carrots with the Hoppy Floppy tweezers is half the challenge in this game (it’s not as easy as it looks honestly, lol!) So it really works your hand eye coordination to grab the little things and get them out of the box and into your basket without them slipping and dropping back in
- Strategic Thinking – Working out how many carrots and colours you need to finish the game, and which icons on the spinner you need to hit, or objects to avoid helps build that forward planning brain power
- Turn Taking and Sharing – Might not sound like much but it is still a skill children have to learn and most games are great for helping with this
- Basic Math and Counting Skills – Young children can work on their basic number and counting skills, counting to 4 and working out how many more carrots they would need (Elian liked to count how many each of us had throughout the game to make sure he was closer to winning! haha We used to play double carrots so we needed 8 instead of 4 if it was just us 2 playing…more challenging!)
