Ok so I figured I should probably start doing the previous month results and new months goals all in one post as it makes far more sense! lol! And I don’t have to write 2 separate posts, seeing as I seem to have so little time to actually write at all at the moment, that also seems like a logical move. As usual this is going out super late in the month too, sorry, but you’ll find my March Goals and February results below!
This last month seemed to fly by in a bit of a blur. Elian has gone back to school and readjusting to doing the school runs has been a bit crazy, you’d think without Elian being at home I would have lots more time in my day to actually blog…yeah not so much. Little miss Effie Boo still takes all of my time at the moment, Jon has been doing lots of work on the house and cars, and the little time I have spare is usually spent on boring old house stuff! But I am hoping now we are getting back into the school routine I will start to find some balance again, but who knows.

Last months original aims post can be seen here
So here is howdy goals went in February
Family Life/Personal Aims
- Meal plan for the month – Completed . Luckily I seem to be sticking to this as a habit and it is really working for us, less waste and lower food bill
- Try 2 new pressure cooker recipes – Completed I did an amazing cheesy chicken pasta and a lamb tagine. Both were based on recipes I found but then tweaked for our taste. I will try get some recipes up when I recook them and get some photos for you
- Keep decluttering, 10 listings a week scheduled on eBay, get rid of remaining clothes at end of the month – 50/50 so I am giving this a 50/50. We did manage to declutter even more stuff out, which feels awesome. I didn’t manage 10 every week, but did more some weeks than others so I think it probably evened out over the month. I haven’t gotten rid of all of the boys clothes I had planned to. But I gave away a huge bag locally and then another to my sister, so I cleared 3 large plastic boxes…which is a big step in the right direction
- Read 2 new books – Fail. Im not entirely sure where time all went this month, but after managing 4 books in Jan and starting 3 in February I actually only finished 1. It was The Lost Art of Letter Writing by Menna Van Praag. It was a pretty easy light hearted read and I enjoyed it
Blogging Aims
- Update more recipe posts – Fail. I honestly didn’t even manage to look at 1 old recipe post!
- Write 3 blog posts – Fail. Again time was not on my side and I only managed 1 new post, which was a Dressing Effie post you can see below
- Complete Hannah B Photography‘s Black and White Week Challenge over on instagram – Completed. Yay, I managed to post a black and white photo every day for a week. Some were new and some were old, the one above was from that week. It was nice having a bit of a change on the old gram, focusing on something different and getting to interact with other photographers and bloggers taking part
Financial Aims
- Stick to my £400 a month food budget – Completed I just came in under budget at £398.50…whoop!
- Make £200 on my side hustles to go towards debt – Completed Again I just managed to get past my target and paid off £244.20! All learnt from selling unwanted stuff, survey sites, phone apps and the odd blog earnings
- Cashout £50 from survey apps and sites – Completed Yay for the first month I actually managed to make a full £50 from survey sites and apps. Most of it was via Prolific as this is usually the best paying site, but you have to be online at the right time to catch the surveys, so its often down to luck. I got lucky and landed a 3 parter worth £9 and another survey worth £5 so it pushed my usual figure up for the month.
Overall
So overall I managed to complete 6.5 out of 10 goals, and as usual my recipe one will be ongoing for a long time, so I am fairly happy with that.
Now on to my March Goals!
I think most of them will be staying the same for this month as they are things I would like to keep as habits long term and build on over time. But here they are my March Goals…
Family Life/Personal Aims
- Complete my 300,000 step challenge in aid of Swansea Bay Baby Loss Support Group. If you are following my insta you will have seen me talking about this most days. A large group of us decided to try and raise funds for our group and local baby loss community by taking part in a 300,000 step challenge in March. You can see my progress over on Instagram, and fingers crossed I manage to complete it!
- Meal plan for the month
- Try 2 new pressure cooker recipes
- Sort all the remaining boxes of kids clothes. We emptied all of the kids clothing boxes out of the attic this week, both stuff thats too small and stuff thats for Effie to grow into. I have about 10 boxes in total. I need to resort them all, take photos of everything that needs to be sold or given away, and repack and label everything correctly
- Finish 2 books – I currently have these on the go, so fingers crossed
Blogging Aims
- Update a recipe post!! I have a few that don’t need recipes re cooking and new images, so I may focus on them first as it is less time consuming than the ones that need a full re work.
- Get 2 new blog posts written. As usual I have a list of ones I would like to do, 2 that I need to do so they should really take priority but I will try my best to get some new content up this month
- Blog Admin! Fix broken links! This is a boring and tedious task I aim to do every few months and ive not done it in awhile!
Financial Aims
- Keep to my food budget…which is slightly different this month. This month actually has 5 Mondays! And I do my food shops on Monday. I budget £100 or usually £400 a month, but with an extra Monday to cover this month will be £500 for the month, so still £100 a week. This is to include all our food, take aways if we have them and all cleaning items, dog food, nappies, toiletries etc
- Make £200 on side hustles to pay towards my debt
- Not technically financial but I want to list my first few items on etsy this month, and maybe get lucky and make my first sale! Fingers crossed
