Ok so I need to be honest and say October was not a particular good month – Emotionally, I struggled with it being Baby Loss Awareness Month, I tend to find the start of the month very full on with all the outpouring of grief and loss on social media so I have a tendency to hibernate a little. Plus Effie has been very clingy and grizzly all month due to teething and some skin issues she is having. Financially, its been very slow with any paid work coming in. The weather has been truly horrific most of the month which put pay to any trips out and just generally put a dampener on my mood. And then Wales went back into lockdown for the last week (and first week of November) right over half term so its not been a fun month.
But I wrote my first monthly aims list last month, after having read Katy Kickers lists for a few months, in the hope it would give me some focus and encouragement, and make me accountable. But I kinda feel like I didn’t do particularly well and failed on most of it! Oops! But here is my October Aims Results so you can see for yourself. Im not letting it get me down though and I am ready to try focus on Novembers aims (post coming soon!)
Heres my original October Aims Post if you wanna read that first
Family Life Aims
- Sell/donate the rest of the baby clothes we no longer need. Failed. I managed to shift just one bundle of clothes, but I sorted some more of the boxes and Elian’s wardrobe and now have an extra 3 boxes of clothes to get rid of…so I made more work but I got more organised 50/50 there!!
- Meal Plan every week. Completed!! Ive got myself in a nice rhythm with our meal planning and food shopping now and its working really well. We have the odd day off plan or have to rejig the days if we don’t fancy a big meal for some reason but I have written a meal plan and shopped to cover it each week without fail.
- Stick to our ‘Screen Free Sundays’. 50/50 Ok so we managed 2 out of 4 screen free Sundays, but in my defence I was very unwell for one so ended up in bed most the day so Elian was allowed iPad and TV with Jon and the 2nd Elian wasn’t with us, so me and Jon enjoyed a binge session of Fear the Walking Dead! so I don’t feel guilty about that one, lol
Blogging Aims
- Photograph and write up all items for Christmas Gift Guide. Massive Fail! Urgh yeah I haven’t found the time to do this as its gonna take quite a few hours. But I still haven’t received all the items so I have given them till Friday this week and I will photograph and write on the weekend…hopefully
- Write 3 product reviews. Fail. I only managed to get 1 written up, the AmaWrap Review. I have the photos for the other 2 items so will have to do them asap, just need to get my butt in gear.
- Create new pins for Halloween posts. Completed. I managed to create pins for all of my old Halloween posts and pin them on my Pinterest boards.
- Update old Christmas posts and gift guides. Failed. But I was waiting to do a bit of techy behind the scenes work before I updated them, and I had that work completed yesterday!! So I can now update and republish them without issues
Financial Aims
- Stick to my food budget. Completed!!! Im very pleased about this one, but I stuck to our £400 budget for all shopping and any takeaways. I came in £6.97 under budget so yay! And I have meat and a freezer fall of veg that will cover us for this week too.
- Track all my outgoings. Completed. As I mentioned last month, I am trying to follow the Dave Ramsey Money Method, so tracking expenses is a major part and thanks to the I Save Money App ive found it really easy to track everything Ive spent and see where its all going
- Sell kids clothes and unwanted items we find. Ongoing I think this is likely to be an ongoing goal for a while. I shifted 1 bundle of kids clothes and a few unwanted items on eBay.
- Earn £200 from side hustles to put towards clearing my personal debt. Completed. I managed to make £277.45 so I’m pretty pleased with that considering it wasn’t a good month and I only sold a few things.
Business Aims
- Set up Etsy shop, add 10 products and get a sale. Failed! I registered the store and thats as far as I have gotten so far!
- Get Christmas mini set sorted and launch xmas shoot bookings. Complete. Granted this was mostly Jon this year, and thanks to our awesome booking system I dont even have to handle the diary. We have sorted set, opened November booking dates, and December dates open tomorrow, and have already taken 20 odd bookings so far so its off to a good start thankfully
So how do you think I did? I had 13 aims and I completed 6, 1 is 50/50 and 1 is ongoing. So it’s not too bad I suppose. Now to finish writing my November aims list.
What are your aims for this month. Anything you really want to achieve?
