Its almost the start of December and for most of us that means its time for the advent count down to Christmas! Yay! Exciting times. If you’re a parent, these days that means so much more than just the old daily door chocolate advent calendar! Christmas advents have changed a lot since I was little and now there are loads of different advent calendar ideas out there, and so many fun extra things parents can do to add a little extra magic to the festive season.
No doubt you will have heard or seen the Christmas naughty elves that have been very popular over the last few years, but they aren’t for everyone! Personally we decided not to keep the elf going when Elian was still tiny and luckily didn’t remember as it felt like it would be something we would have to keep up for years to come, and its quite a lot of effort to be honest! But I still know loads of friends who do still do the elves.
Well now I want to share with you something that is perfect for both those of you who have decided to have an elf and those who haven’t! The International Elf Service got in touch and asked if I would like a set of personalised letters for Elian and Effie for the lead up to Christmas, and I was more than happy to receive them and check them out. I had seen other versions of elf letters doing the rounds on social media, but most weren’t daily letters or they looked like basic printed letters with clip art style graphics…these ones looked very different…so here is a peek for you!
The letters were gifted for the purpose of this review but all words and thoughts are my own
Whats in the International Elf Service Letter Set
So in the box you will received
- A personalised certificate congratulating your kids on being chosen to receive elf letters
- A map of the North Pole Elf Village
- A letter from Mrs Claus
- 24 Personalised letters from the elves
- 1 personalised letter from Santa for Christmas day
- A Santa feedback form for how much he enjoyed the treats you left him
- 26 Personalised envelopes
It really is everything you need to make every morning magical and keep the idea of Santa alive on the lead up to Christmas Day. If you have an elf you can allow the elf to deliver the letters each day, or if like us you don’t have an elf you can enjoy hiding the letter each morning for your kids to find! Believe me I intend to get creative on a few mornings to make it fun and silly for Elian looking for his letters…I know he is gonna get so much excitement from looking for them each morning.
Personalised Illustrated Daily Elf Letters
Each letter is beautifully illustrated with fun doddles and illustrations done by the elves. I was honestly so impressed with the quality of the letters and how beautiful they really were in person, far more than I had even expected them to be. Even down to the paper being the textured natural feel paper the attention to detail is amazing.
The drawings were made to look like different styles – watercolour, pencil drawings, pen sketches and neatly painted ones. Some letters are messy with splashes of pain, whereas others are lovely and neat. And all of this is to tie into the different personalities of the elves writing the letters – there are 8 different elves writing to your little ones, and they all sign their letters so you know who is writing each day.
It is honestly so well thought out, so much fun and so sweet to see how the different elves write and what they talk about. Your kids will love getting into the little stories the elves have to tell about what is happening at the North Pole, the silly things that go wrong and the fun the elves and Santa are having getting all the presents ready for Christmas Eve.
I honestly cannot wait for December to start so I can start hiding the letters for Elian and Effie to find each morning. I am going to find so much joy in Elians excitement when he is looking for the letter each morning, and I will enjoy reading him the stories the elves are telling. I think these will be a lovely keep sake for us to hold on to for the future too!
A bit of info about the International Elf Service
Each year they produce a new set of letters so you can continue this tradition for as many years as you would like, or for as long as your children believe or have an elf. It can become a family tradition that your kids look forward to each year.
The letters can be personalised to your children, or your children and their elf if they have one, but the letters cannot be sent from their elf. This is down to the fact that there are a number of elves writing the letters, so it wouldn’t make sense for them to be from your childrens own elf.
There are a number of different elf letter bundles available not just the advent set, there are smaller activity bundles and elf news bundles. So you have other options if you dont want a daily advent letter.
You can order your International Elf Service Letters from January and they will be delivered from September onwards…perfect if you are super organised or dont want to forget after he current christmas has passed!
