Do you take a fair few long drives? Does your little one get bored in the car? Then todays review might be just what you are looking for. For some reason both our kids have hated the car. Elian was particularly awful and would scream the entire journey no matter where we went, until we added an iPad to the headrest in the back which was a game changer. Effie isnt quite as bad but will still cry and scream for ages if she’s not happy or bored and sadly the iPad trick doesn’t tend to work.
Effie has been testing out the Taf Toys Koala Car Wheel Toy to see whether its a great boredom buster to keep little ones entertained whilst in the back of the car and hopefully stop some of the screaming as it can be dangerous and distracting. The Taf Toys Koala Car Wheel Toy is available from Halfords for £29.99.
The item was gifted but all words and opinions are my own
Pros of the Taf Toys Koala Car Wheel
- The wheel makes a number of different sounds and lights, and has a few different buttons to keep little ones entertained and teach them cause and effect
- The buttons and wheel are great for developing fine motor skills and hand eye coordination
- Role play can help develop babies imagination and language skills
- The bright colours are eye catching for little ones attention
- The soft fabric base allows the toy to hang down against the back of the seat when not in use so is easy to store
Cons of the Taf Toys Koala Car Wheel
- As you can see Effie is forward facing in these photos as that is how the toy is suggested to be used (instructions on the box say for forward facing) but we don’t actually forward face Effie yet as we think she is too young (This is actually her bros seat usually and she rear faces in the joie car seat next to him). This toy is for 12 months plus and encourages forward facing which we personally feel it shouldn’t do as it is unsafe. But obviously that is a personal choice parents make
- The plastic clips that you use to attach to your headrest are meant for thin metal pole style headrests…which my car does not have, or any of my families cars…so its not really very compatible with all cars. We have large leather headrests so had to loop the clips either side of one side and cable tie them together, which isn’t ideal really.
In conclusion
So in conclusion Effie (and Elian actually) both enjoyed playing with this toy. Effie loved the clicking of the steering wheel when turning it and Elian enjoyed making the noises activate with the buttons. It definitely kept her entertained while on our daily trips and running errands.
The only down side for us is that fact it doesn’t easily attach to our car. If we had the correct head rest it would be great.
