So we have come to the end of my current guest post series, and I’ll be back posting from next week. So to finish off this little series here is the final post from Rai from Raivolution. Ive known Rai for almost 7 years now after we met at the first ever South Wales Bloggers meet, and I am very excited and honoured to be photographing her wedding later in the year. Thats why its fitting that she is here today to talk about things she loves to photograph.
When I’m feeling a bit down, one of my favourite ways to get out of a rut is with photography. It’s a great way to capture the world around you, whether you’re using your phone camera or a DSLR (I use an Olympus PEN E-PL6) and see a bit more of the prettiness in everyday situations. These are my top five things to photograph for a little happiness boost;
ONE: PETS
one of the easiest things to photograph, I love taking the chance to go around my parents, or go out on a dog walk, and snap some pet pictures. It’s a lovely way to remember moments and my mum always appreciates having more pictures of her fur babies. It’s a great way to test out new fixed-focal lenses too, as they’re far too used to being photographed now!
TWO: NATURE
a more classic form of photography, I find taking landscape snaps super relaxing; and along the Somerset coast there’s so much pretty to take photos of! This snap was taken at Sand Bay, the less ‘toursity’ beach in Weston, and I want to go back again this summer and take some more.
THREE: OLD BUILDINGS/PARKS
one of my favourite days out is to national trust parks; there’s always a mixture of lovely things to photograph, from deer to beautiful architecture and pretty interiors. Rufford Abbey was one of the places I visited with J up in Nottingham, and not only do I have nice memories of the day I have some lovely photographs to go along with them.
FOUR: FLORALS
flowers are one of the most fun still life things to photograph in my opinion; they’re always vibrant and have tonnes of texture, making for great close ups. I love getting bouquets as a gift mostly for this reason; it gives me another subject to work with. My favourites are lilies, daisies and anything ruffly.
FIVE: ANIMALS
I felt this deserved a separate category from pets, as give me a zoo or safari park and a telephoto lens and I’m a very happy girl! Undoubtedly my favourite subject to photograph is wildlife or exotic animals, and I can’t wait until we visit Dudley zoo later this year so I get a chance to use my posher lenses again. This red panda photo is one of my favourite shots of all time.
Thank you Rai for your great post, obviously photography is a massive thing in mine and Jon’s lives so we love to see others with a similar passion. At the moment the thing we love photographing more than anything is obviously our new arrival, Elian!
