Today I have the lovely Amanda from LND Rose taking over the blog to chat to you all about her Top 5 summer wardrobe buys. She has chosen some seriously cute items that are now added to my wishlist…so over to Amanda!
Living in England, it’s quite normal to have all 4 seasons appear in one day. So come summertime it’s quite normal to have both my sunglasses and umbrella packed! Choosing what to wear can therefore be a bit of a tricky one when the weather is as unreliable as it is.
Now that we are officially in Spring, I thought I would share some wardrobe essentials to help you transition from Spring to typical British Summer.
The jacket
The most difficult item to decide on during summer, is usually what jacket to wear. I often step out of the house in the morning, sun shining, assuming I won’t need a jacket on this glorious sunny day. Then lo and behold, the clouds will appear and the rain will pour. So what’s a girl to do?
I find that even on the hottest of summer days, a denim jacket can be the perfect go-to item. It’s versatile enough that you can wear it on both hot and cooler days. Here are some of my favourite ones available on ASOS now:
- ASOS Denim Anarchy Jacket with Check Lining £50.00
- New Look Embroidered Pastel Denim Jacket £39.99
- Pull&Bear Oversized Denim Jacket £39.99
- New Look Embroidered Pastel Denim Jacket £39.99
- Monki Oversized Coloured Denim Jacket £50.00
To skirt or not to skirt?
For some women, wearing a skirt can be a daunting choice if you’re not used them. I know I went through a phase of forcing myself to wear them more during warmer months. But even then, a random gust of wind can often lead to embarrassing situations. And I know I’m not alone in that, right ladies?
So I usually opt for a longer length and luckily midi skirts are very on trend. There are a number of brands that have released some in bright and bold colours as well as patterns to help bring some colour to your Summer wardrobe:
- ASOS Midi Pleated Skirt £30.00
- ASOS Metallic Pleated Skirt £30.00
- ASOS Linen Prom Skirt £28.00
- Puma Exclusive Wrap Skirt £26.00
- ASOS Midi Pleated Skirt in Floral £22.50
The skinny jean
Getting the right fit for skinny jeans is every girl’s dream. Being both petite and curvy this has not been easy for me! I find that most jeans are either too long or don’t sit on the right part of my waist. Luckily brands have gotten a bit better and provide better options for women of all shapes and sizes.
But jeans are still a staple of my everyday wardrobe and perfect for summer. For the office, I might team them up with some boots or brogues, or for a more casual look I’d pair them up with trainers or espadrilles.
The ultimate white t-shirt
A basic white tee is the ultimate summer top. It may seem basic but that’s why it’s perfect for matching with pretty much anything. You can dress it up or down. For example wearing it with black trousers or skinny jeans then teaming it up with a blazer will make it office-friendly. For a more casual look, opt for light-wash denim.
Being such a basic item, it’s easy to shop for cheaper options like Primark or H&M but I think it’s worth investing in a slightly more expensive brand as sometimes cheaper ones can often look cheap. But for something you’ll get a lot of wear from it’s worth the investment.
Culottes
This trend came back some time last year and is set to make more waves this summer. It’s the ultimate comfy summer item that can keep you feeling cool and looking stylish.
Similar to the white t-shirt you can style this up or down depending on your needs. Either pairing with a fitted top or perhaps a baggy crop top perfect for those summer days. And if you’re feeling bold, perhaps wear the matching top, like this lovely ensemble from Nobody’s Child.
This style can be a bit hard to pull off if you’re like me and have short legs, but fear not there are brands do them in petite also.
Some of my favourite ones include:
- ASOS Linen Culottes (Pastel Pink) £25.00
- ASOS Linen Culottes (White) £25.00
- ASOS Petite Culottes £28.00
These shoes were made for walking
Finally, and probably my favourite summer item (or all year round in fact!) is shoes! Summer footwear is so much more versatile than any other time of year. You have the option to wear sandals, trainers, wedges, flip-flops, open-toe shoes, the list goes on.
I’m not so much of a heels girl and in summer I do like to visit parks and walk around as much as possible. So flats are my usual go-to, here are a few suggestions for you to check out:
- ASOS JOLA Leather Tie Leg Summer Shoes £28.00
- ASOS JUZA Leather Summer Shoes £20.00
- ASOS JEENA Suede Mules Espadrilles £18.00
- ASOS JUNE FLOWER Embroidered Espadrilles £25.00
- ASOS LYCHEE Slingback Pointed Ballet Flats £18.00
So that makes my top 5 list for summer wardrobe items, did I miss any out? Do you have any other summer essentials?
