I spent the weekend before last on a girly weekend away in Pixley, which is just outside Ledbury. It was a friends 40th birthday party so 7 of us girls rented a holiday let called Harvest House (I’ll do a post on that soon!) for a long weekend. We cooked for ourselves most of the weekend but on Sunday lunchtime decided we would go for a tasty meal at the local pub, the Trumpet Inn, which had been recommended by the holiday let owners. I of course did my usual and checked out the Trumpet Inn Reviews on Trip Advisor first, which were nearly all glowing.
We had passed the pub on the way to the holiday let and it looked quaint and old fashioned, just my kinda pub!! It was just a 15 minute walk from where we were staying and as the weather was lovely and sunny the stroll was quite refreshing.
The pub itself was lovely, wooden beams, traditional old pub style, but nothing too stuffy. It was also really busy with locals so is obviously very popular, luckily we had booked a table so didn’t have any issues. The staff were all lovely and very polite and helpful, which is always a big tick in my books (manners cost nothing!).
On to the food, sorry its just a she said review as Jon wasn’t with me:
She Says: As it was a Sunday I of course opted for a good old Sunday Lunch, sadly they were already out of Lamb so I chose the Pork instead (the other option was beef, which I don’t eat a lot of) but it was really yummy. It came with 3 big slices of pork, a yorkshire pudding, baby carrots, roast potatoes, sugarsnap peas, broccoli, braised red cabbage, gravy and a few pieces of crackling (which was really good and crispy). It all tasted really good and I polished off the entire plate. But I still had room for dessert, and as I had already seen the cheesecake on the menu I knew I really wanted to try it. Mango and Coconut Cheesecake with a chocolate biscuit base – yummy! It was so creamy and smooth, yet had a nice sharp fruity taste, it was really good.
The service was fast, the food was good, the pub had a lovely atmosphere, and I would definitely return again if we were in the area. The 2 courses plus a pint cam to £21 so the price was pretty decent too!
