DIY String Heart
I love how striking this DIY String Heart picture from Green Wedding Shoes is. And once you have the pins knocked into the heart shape it is super simple too. This could be done in any colour combination to match any home décor, plus it could be done in other shapes as well, I’ve seen states and country outlines done in the colours of the flag. Apart from the board of wood it is really cheap as well; a pack of nails and a ball of yarn! So easy. If you need a template for something more complicated Design Bundles have great free svg files you could use.
DIY Lace Heart Garland
This is such a pretty little garland idea that would be great to decorate your home for a romantic Valentines Day meal, or maybe a Valentine Day party. It is also an absolutely ingenious craft idea which you will find over on Michele Made Me, using a heart shaped cookie cutter, lace and Modge Podge. I would never have thought to use a cookie cutter to shape something like lace, but this is honestly really clever. The delicate lace shape it leaves is really beautiful, again I think it could probably be done with other shapes too.
Origami Hearts
How’s you origami skills? I actually love to learn a bit of origami and think these clever origami heart would look great as table decorations for Valentines Day. You will fInd 4 different origami heart tutorials on Bloomize, including the one pictures here. One is also a ring shape so would be a cute romantic alternative for a Valentines Day proposal.
Heart Garland
If the lace heart garland isn’t really you then maybe this paper heart garland from Practically Functional is more your thing. This is such a simple idea, but looks as if it must have taken lots of work. You just need strips of thick paper or thin card, string and a stapler. This is perfect for Valentines day but would look great all year round in a nursery or bedroom. Again this can be made in any colour combination to suit your room décor, or done with patterned scrapbooking sheet or offcuts.
Button Love Heart DIY
I found this cute picture DIY over on Muslin and Merlot. I think this would make an awesome Valentine Day Gift for the lady in your life, it would show that you have put lots of effort into making her something sweet that she will like. It’s made using buttons so is really cheap again and such a clever use for them. This would also be a fun craft to get the kids involved in too! Maybe making one for their mum or grandma? You just need to find the right frame and some good strong glue. You could even add some text or a quote to this to make it really personal using svgs from Design Bundles
Heart Shaped Wreath
I adore how expensive and beautiful this heart shaped wreath looks. I found this specific DIY for it over on The Idea Room although I know there are a few other similar ones on other sites too. The technique to make this is quite simple but it is time consuming, so make sure you have an hour or two to set aside to work on it. I really think it is worth the effort though as it is so striking, if you bought something similar on the internet or in a store it would be very expensive! It isn’t particularly expensive either, you just need to find the heart shape to start with. This will look truly stunning hanging on a door or over the mantle piece, plus it would make a great Valentines Day gift idea too.
