Eek todays post is a collaboration I am just a tad excited about, and I couldn’t wait to share it with you all. Some of your will remember my original fashion and lifestyle blog, Daisy Dayz many moons ago. But since becoming a mum I feel like I have lost that interest in fashion and my own style. So it is quite refreshing for me to finally be rediscovering fashion and finding a new style I am comfortable with.
So when Very.co.uk set me the challenge of styling up a cozy winter outfit using one of their Teddy Coats I jumper at the chance. First of all, I think winter is my favourite season as I love the chance to layer up and get cozy. Plus I have never actually owned a teddy coat before, and after nosing on the website I totally fell in love with the one I eventually chose. Keep reading to find out what other items I chose…this has fast become my fav winter outfit, I’ve worn it lots and I get so many comments about the dress!
Just FYI I ordered the dress and jumper in a size 16 and the jacket in an 18 (so I can fit layers under it!), and I am 5ft 9in so you can get a general idea of the lengths!
The clothing (except the hat) was gifted by Very.co.uk in exchange for this review, but all opinions are my own
The Dress
Ok, so let’s just talk about the dress of dreams! This Floral Long Sleeve Midi Dress by Joe Browns is simply perfection! I would happily live all year round in long floaty dresses (and my wardrobe is slowly heading that direction if I’m honest) so when I spotted this striking red, pink and orange floral dress I knew I needed it in my life. The deep red sections are velvet and the floral print is a sheer fabric, it is simply so pretty and feels decadent (and very touchable! So many people have stroked my arm. lol!) I love the shape of the dress and it fits and flatters my now curvier mum figure so well. The billowing sleeves, flowing skirt, elasticated waist and button up top and just lovely, lovely, lovely, hehe! I’ve honestly had so many people ask me where the dress is from when I have been wearing it, the photos don’t do it justice on just how beautiful the dress is.
The Jumper
I decided to layer up the dress with a jumper, and chose this Glitter Spun Jumper from Crew Clothing. I love popping a loose jumper over a dress as it makes them so versatile, no matter the weather. I thought the colour on this jumper would compliment the Joe Browns dress really well, its not a colour I currently own, and I loved that it was shot through with tiny sequinned thread, giving it just the slightest sparkle.
The Coat
Ah the coat! I’m totally in love with this Teal Faux Fur Coat from V by Very Curve. Its super soft and crazy cozy. Just so snuggly and lovely to wear. I can see me wearing it quite a lot this winter as it just feels so decadent to be cwtched up in a fur coat. The colour is what drew me to it first, I love this deep rich teal colour. As its from the curve range its a bit longer than other coats, which is perfect in the winter to give you the extra bit of coverage.
The Boots
I chose to style the outfit with these brown Fat Face Arden Ankle Boots. I love a good boot in the winter, although I usually spend most of my time in Dr Martens. These boots are perfect for styling with my long dresses, the little belt buckle details put them just the right side of feminine, but they are still nice and sturdy for the cold weather and my active days out with the kids. I wore them for the whole day around Longleat this week and they are crazy comfy, thankfully!
Accessories
I finished off the outfit with this gorgeous patch-work cross body bag from Accessorize, its the perfect size if I’m going out without the kids! I can get my card wallet, phone, keys and a lip stick in there, so its perfect for a day out shopping or a mums lunch.
Now that I have my second piercings I have been enjoying layering up smaller hoops, but I didn’t actually own any! So I chose this 3 pack from Accessorize as I knew they would go with pretty much everything, so are really versatile. I have been wearing them lots already
And I can’t not mention the hat! So this isn’t from Very, I actually found it at Gloucester Christmas Market from a company called The Tweed Tailor. I used to wear hats all the time but haven’t for the last few years, but I knew this one would work so well with this outfit and couldn’t resist it.
