Elian is at an age where he likes to play games with others. For Christmas and his birthday this year he asked for games he could play with Jon and I, so he is starting to accumulate quite a collection. Our latest addition to our Wooden Games collection is a Four in a Row Game we were gifted from Jaques of London.
Now this was the first time Elian has properly played Connect 4 with us, but he picked it up pretty quickly (although I still beat him most the time, haha!) Its a great game if you just want something quick and easy for younger kids as most games only last a few minutes. Plus Connect 4 is an easy game to keep tidy, set up and pack away at the end! Just what parents want!
The game was gifted by Jaques of London for review purposes but all words, photos and opinions are my own
Wooden Games for Kids
If you’re looking for some great Toys for 5 year olds then wooden games are a great option. Not only are they more eco-friendly as they aren’t made of plastic, but they also last longer. Wooden games last for many years as they tend to be more sturdy and well made than plastic. They will bring you lots of fun for years to come and they can be passed on once your child has outgrown them.

Portable Wooden Games
With so many of us choosing to forgo taking holidays abroad this year, either opting to stay home for the summer or take a UK based staycation, the sales of travel games has risen. When we took our recent trip to West Wales to stay in this lovely cabin in Cenarth we packed this game, and a number of other toys to help keep the kids entertained. We weren’t planning a super active holiday, so we’re just aiming for something relaxing and simply wanted to get away from home for a little while. Taking a few games with us that we could play together as a family in the afternoons was the perfect way to spend some time together.
This wooden 4 in a row is perfect as it all packs into the little base and you slide the ‘board’ over the top so its all contained and easily portable. Plus its not very big so didn’t take up much space in our car/luggage.
What other Wooden Games do Jaques of London have?
If you’re looking for more great wooden games for your kids, Jaques of London has a great range for all ages. And lots of them are portable too which is great for a family trip or a staycation! These are a few of our favourites that we are hoping to add to our game collection soon
