Christmas is coming!! And today I am bringing you another gift guide to help you get some ideas for the perfect Christmas present. This time its gift ideas for a new mum (just like me!!) New mums have so much going on in their lives and will only be thinking of their little one especially if its their first Christmas, so its nice for them to be spoilt with a special gift just for them. Here I’ve listed a few ideas for the perfect gift you could buy a new mum and I promise she will love it! Personalised items are always going to be a big hit but so are practical items that will make her life a little easier or that will allow her to feel great.
What do babies dream about? Is that a question you have ever asked yourself? Me and Jon have found ourselves asking that question numerous times since having the little dude. As a new parent you spend lots of time staring (lovingly!) at your peacefully sleeping little one (sometimes thanking god that they have finally gone to sleep!) and you will often notice their eyelids flickering, mouth twitching and hands moving, so they must be dreaming about something right. We like to joke that Elian just dreams about boobies as he often makes sucking motions in his sleep and smiles, hehe! What boy doesn’t like to dream about boobies! Obviously his life experiences and knowledge of things is still pretty limited at only 16 weeks old, so he must dream about something he has experienced… toys, boobs and us! Continue reading →
I was tagged by Sarah over at Toby Goes Bananas to complete the Blogging Room 101 Tag and discuss my blogging pet peeves, or what I would put into room 101! Now I don’t pretend to be any sort of blogging expert, but in the 7 years I have been blogging (5 on Daisy Dayz and 2 here on Two Hearts One Roof) I have probably read, or at least looked at, 1000’s of blogs covering all sorts of subject matter and from writers all over the world so I have developed a small list of pet peeves that will have me clicking off a blog the moment the page loads (or doesn’t load see pet peeve number 2!!) Hello Hello Hello Just a very brief post from me today! I am very very sorry for my almost 3 month hiatus but I promise I had a good reason! The best reason in-fact! If you follow us on Facebook or Instagram you will already know our awesome news, if not the picture above should be enough to give it away…Yes we are very excited to be expecting our first little bean in June! After our miscarriage earlier in the year (read our story here) this news really turned our year around! Continue reading →
Well most of you won’t know but today is Pregnancy and Infant Loss awareness day, a day that would never have meant anything to me in the past, but this year that changed when we had a miscarriage in August with our first baby. I never usual write about heavy subjects on our blog, I’m all about recipes, household decorating and puppy posts, but this is obviously a subject that has affected both me and Jon in a huge way and I think it is a subject that should be spoken about more. There is no reason miscarriage should be a taboo subject but for some reason in the UK it is almost never spoken about, even though it is hugely common. 1 in 4 known pregnancies ends in miscarriage before 20 weeks, but it is believed the actually figure is more likely 1 in 3 because some are lost so early the mother doesn’t yet know she is pregnant.
Well it was mine and Jon’s 5th Wedding Anniversary last week, and when it comes to gifts we made a decision early on that we would stick to the traditional gifts and get each other little gifts, then we enjoy a nice night out or even a weekend away if we can. So for a 5th wedding anniversary the traditional gift iss wood, so Jon got me the 2 brooches above from Victoria & Abigail and I got him the Camera style iPhone case (we also got a new wooden crate for our newborn baby props off my parents)
This little man has made a huge impact on our lives since we got him 2 months ago, so it is about time he got his own section on the blog too, so introducing…Opie Reviews.
First up is Pooch & Mutt. This great company is solely based in the UK (you know I’m always a fan of championing British companies) and produce natural dog food, treats and supplements, which are free from grain, cereal, artificial flavourings, preservative and GM produce. The companies ethos is to help dogs live a happy, healthy life by producing a range of products which are ethical and hand made with a unique blend of natural ingredients to help target specific problems in dogs. With the little man now firmly a part of this family and his stuff now taking over the house I thought it was about time to get him a more permanent bed (rather than his rush purchase puppy one) that we can keep in our bedroom. We have been very specific with everything we have put in the house since moving in, making sure the items we choose work with our design ideas and will last us, so why should Opie’s bed be any different. Our bedroom is all grey and turquoise so I went on the hunt for a stylish dog bed for our little fur ball. And was lucky enough to find the bed above that would match our grey colour scheme and still look stylish. Continue reading →
And here is the last instalment of my 2014 reading list. (You can find the other instalments here, part 1, part 2, part 3). So this is the final 10 books of my year, as you will see I have a bit of a thing for murder mysteries or deceptive type books, with the odd chick lit, romance or random book thrown in for good measure. This years challenge isn’t going so well at the moment as I seem to have very little time to read, so making my full 40 books for the year is going to be a challenge as so far i think I have only managed 4! But fingers crossed that manages to pick up again soon. So on with the books Continue reading →
