Our Adventures // A Day at Bristol Aquarium – Family Friendly Places to Visit in Bristol

Hey guys!! It feels like I haven’t filled you in on general life, parenting and us stuff in an age. I apologise if your bored of all the house and garden posts I’ve been churning out recently, I know you all really just wanna see posts about me…yeah, ok I mean posts about the dude! He has me on the cuteness factor really, so I can’t win on that front. 

Well we were over the border in England recently for our Cuddledry Brand Rep shoot (which was super fun, go check out the vlog on that too) and we decided to make a little mini break of it and stay for the night in Bristol so we could visit Bristol Aquarium. Elian loves animals in general and seems to be a big fan of fish, so we thought it would be a good chance to see what Bristol Aquarium was like as neither me nor Jon have visited in the past. And I have to say we weren’t disappointed!

So here are a few photos Jon managed to capture on our trip, but if you want to have a better look at what is on offer at the aquarium and all the different types of marine life they have check out my vlog at the bottom of this post.

There is a huge range of sealife to see from seahorses and sting ray, to octopus, sharks and Nemos…aka clown fish. Plus a little section of rainforest reptiles which Elian was very interested in, the little tiny yellow dart frogs really caught his attention.  

Throughout the day there were lots of fish feeding and animal talks going on in different parts of the aquarium which were really interesting to listen to, the staff are very knowledgable and great at presenting to visitors. Granted Elian didn’t want to stay still long enough for me to listen to the whole talks, but what I managed to listen of the shark talk and the ray feeding talk was really interesting. Seeing acting ray being hand fed is a highlight for me.

The exhibits are all spread over a few different sections, split up by the type of climate/water the fish would be found in. The exhibits are really informative if you are interested in reading about the fish and species in each tank. It would be great for kids who are studying marine life at school.  

The aquarium is spread over 2 levels with 2 rainforest type atriums either side with ramps to circle you up and down the floors, so it is buggy/wheelchair friendly. Plus lots of the tanks go down to the floor or are quite low to the floor meaning toddlers can easily see in the tanks without needing to be lifted. Elian loved that he had the freedom to explore and I felt that he was pretty safe everywhere, which is important for parents on a day out.

We had such an amazing time and I just want to say thank you so much to Bristol Aquarium for inviting us to visit. We had a lovely day at the aquarium and will most definitely visit again in the future.
