Todays post is all about our day out with Kiddylicious to Legoland Windsor. Here is our guide to Legoland with a toddler.
If you follow our Instagram feed (which you really should!) you may already have seen our story highlights from our day out at Legoland Windsor, and the occasional photo I have been dropping on my feed since our return. Well this is the post I have been promising since our visit, I finally managed to get all the photos sorted and everything written up for this little guide to Legoland with a toddler.
So first off I should say neither me nor Jon had been to Legoland before so we didn’t have a clue what to expect, and other than checking out the website when I booked the date for us to go I didn’t do much research as I figured we would just see it all on the day…I didn’t realise just how big Legoland is!! It is huge, and there is just so much for kids (and adults) to do, you could easily spend a few days in the park.
Obviously as Elian is only little he couldn’t go on everything, but he is over 90cm (just) which meant he could still go on the majority of rides as long as he was accompanied by an adult. Now Elian isn’t the most adventurous of kids so I knew anything fast would be out but that still left a huge number of rides and attractions for him to enjoy. We chose the few we thought he would enjoy the most and you will find these below.
A Day Out With Kiddylicious
I just want to thank Kiddylicious for inviting us to Legoland Windsor and providing us with our tickets and the Kiddylicious lunch box and snacks. The snacks were a great way to keep Elian full of energy all day and keep him entertained during some of the queues. Kiddylicious snacks have always been a big hit in our house with the banana wafers a firm favourite when Elian was smaller. Now the veggie straws and soft biscotti are a go to healthy snack. I often keep them in my bag to keep him going throughout the day. The fact they are individually portioned for kids is great for portion control. You know they are having a healthy snack that is good for them, and the packaging is clearly labelled for all allergens and dietary requirements. They just make chowing a healthy snack for your littles that much easier!
Elian’s Outfit
As I talk about kids fashion so much on the blog now I thought I should mention his seriously cute outfit. Elian is wearing a marble print romper from JMW Kids and Aktiv Abstract Trainers from Bobux.
A Basic Guide to Legoland Windsor and it’s Layout
So here is how Legoland Windsor is laid out. The park is broken down into a number of different themed areas
- The Beginning
- Lego Ninjago World
- Land of the Vikings
- Knights Kingdom
- Pirate Shores
- Kingdom of the Pharaohs
- Heartlake City
- Lego City
- Adventure Land
- Duplo Valley
- Imagination Center
- Miniland
Each area contains its own attractions, rides and even themed shops and restaurants in some cases. If your in Legoland with a toddler then its most likely you will spend most of your time in Duplo Valley. All the rides and attractions in this area are directed at younger children just like the Lego Duplo toy range. Elian’s favourite bit of all was in this section. Even with all the rides on offer my toddler still loved Brickville park the most.
So here are our favourite things to do in Legoland Windsor with a toddler…in no particular order
These are just the top things that Elian absolutely loved at the park. We could honestly have spent another 2 days there exploring and enjoying everything Legoland has to offer, so we only got to do a small amount of things in our day there. Below are our highlights but you’ll find a list of lots of other attractions and rides that you can enjoy in Legoland with a toddlers after this.
Just a note to say that we visited on a weekday, during term time so it was fairly quiet when we were there and queue times will be a lot busier on weekends and school holidays.
Atlantis Submarine Voyage – Located in Adventure land
Elian loves aquariums and sealife in general (did you see our vlog from Bristol Aquarium?) so when I saw that there was a ride that included a real aquarium I knew it was a must for us. Originally we had planned to do it first as I was told it usually had a big queue but then we realised it is at the furthest end of the park to the entrance so we just worked our way over to it. Luckily the queue was pretty short and only took 10 minutes or so.
OK so the premise of the ride is a submarine around the lost city of Atlantis. You board a large submarine (one family/group either end of the ship) and it ‘submerges’ (pretend with bubbles at the windows etc, you do not get submerged so don’t panic!). The sub then travels along a track with you sitting below water level in a real aquarium with tropical fish and baby shark. You’ll see the lost city of Atlantis ruins and lego divers. There is a small amount of interaction for the kids, as the ‘crew’ talk you through the trip and ask you to select things on a touch screen.
Elian loved this one so much and if we had had more time I would gladly have gone on it again. I just wish it was a few minutes longer, the whole ride took less than 6 minutes!
Fairy Tale Brook – Located in Duplo Valley
This is a lovely gentle little ride that all the family can enjoy, even the littlest people in the family. Again we got luck with the queue and it was only a few minutes as it moves along fairly quickly. Each family/group has their own leaf boat (4 people max I think), which moves around a track in the water. There are moving lego sculptures of a number of fairytales long the track for you to see.
The ride only lasts around 5 minutes in total, but Elian really enjoyed seeing all the moving sculptures. They are all very recognisable from fairytales including Snow White, the three little bigs, little red riding hood, sleeping beauty and a few others. This is the perfect ride if your visiting Legoland with a toddler or a younger child, as its very calm and gentle.
Brickville – Located in Duplo Valley
Not an actual ride, its actually a big park. Elian loved this the most I think. We actually had trouble getting him away from the park to go on some of the rides. The park has lots of slides and climbing frames, tunnels and more for kids to play on. So even if you have a child under the 90cm height they can still enjoy this great park.
The park has a town theme to it, with police car, fire engine, bank and other buildings to play on. Plus with a soft spongy floor so if there are any accidents the kids are fairly safe. As you can see Elian’s favourite bit was to drive the fire engine. I’m sure Brickville will be a hit if. your visiting Legoland with a toddler!
Duplo Train – Located in Duplo Valley
The Duplo train was another hit with Elian. Just a little blue train on a little track. Toddlers could go on this alone if over 90cm, but as you can see Jon squeezed on with Elian! The little blue train only carried around 9 people, so during a busy time it might be bad queuing but there was almost no queue when we went. It simply chugs around the track 4 times, but little ones seem to love it!
Sky Rider – Located in the Imagination Centre
Another gentle ride, so great if your visiting Legoland with a toddler or young child. These crazy looking carriages gently glide around a raised track 20 feet high, giving you a really great view over the park and over miniland. Wait time was only a few minutes as it moved along quite quickly and there are a number of carriages, with each carriage seating 3.
Elian loved looking around the park from this higher perspective. I was worried he might not like the heigh, but he honestly wasn’t phased. We really loved the view over miniland and all of the larger city sculptures. Gives you a different perspective of the park.
Coastguard HQ – Located in Lego City
We hadn’t originally intended to ride this as I had seen that queues were one of the longest in the park. Luckily we had the Legoland app and when we checked it to see what we could go on during our last hour in the park, we found there was only a 15 minutes queue. Which actually turned out to only be 10 minutes.
On this ride you get to drive a mini battery powered boat around the little river, past lots of lego animal sculptures and avoiding obstacles. Each boat seats 3, and again there are a number of boats constantly going round so the queues move fairly quickly.
Although Elian couldn’t really drive the boat himself, he did have lots of fun pretending to steer and pointing out different animals as he spotted them.
Duplo Valley Airport – Located in Duplo Valley
This is a simple little ride for littles that involves sitting in a little helicopter which can be controlled to go up and down and turn around in a circle with 2 joysticks. At first Elian wasn’t keen to get on it when the safety bar was lowered but he soon realised he could make the helicopter go up and down and turn round in circles. Once he started steering it himself he was more than happy to play around with it, whilst waving at Jon.
As the ride is in Duplo Valley it is only intended for younger children, (although older kids can also ride) but it doesn’t go too high or too fast. Each ride only lasts 4-5 minutes and there are a dozen or so helicopters each seating 2 people. This was the first ride we went on, and we queued for around 10 minutes at that time
Miniland
This is the big highlight of the park really. Lots of sculptures of iconic buildings and cities from across Europe and USA. Many have moving parts, real water ways, people and vehicles. It really was amazing to see so many iconic landmarks made from lego. It was lovely to take a stroll around them and see how many we recognised, and how many we have been to in person!
FUN FACT!! The entirety of miniland was built using nearly 40 million lego bricks!! Wow!
All the animal and dinosaur lego builds around the park
When walking around the park you will spot lots of different lego sculptures, from the Easter Island Heads and a giant Aroplane to the Dinosaurs and multitude of animals. Elian’s favourite thing was to spot all the animals dotted around the path on the way to Atlantis. Around the lake you will find ducks and birds, in front of the Legoland hotel is a selection of wild animals and just before Atlantis you might spot some bunnies and a fox or 2.
The Rides We Didn’t Get To Go On
Rides we really wish we had had time to go on, that we think Elian would have liked!
- Aero Nomad – a balloon ride offering an aerial view of the park
- Desert Chase – A desert themed traditional carousel
- Laser Raiders – A ride in which you can shoot laser guns at the targets while moving around the track
- Heartlake City Express – This is a train that transports you across array of exotic landscape to see lots of lego animals on a quest for hidden treasure (sadly this was under maintenance during our visit!)
- The Pirates of Skeleton Bay Stunt Show – A pirate themed adventure and stunt show with acrobats and sword fighting (we just didn’t catch the show at the right time so only saw a few minute at the end but know Elian would have loved it)
- Balloon School – Hot-air balloons where you can control the altitude by pulling a ‘gas lever’
- Drench Towers and Splash Safari – This is a big water park/splash pad that looks amazing. We had planned to use this during our visit as it was so warm and it looks so cool. But we were having so much fun on the rides and knew it would take a big chunk of our time having to change, dry and dress Elian and ourselves that we decided not to do it on this occasion.
- Lego Reef – Build your own digital fish, release it into the digital aquarium, watch it swim and feed it.
Legoland Shows For All The Family
Whether your visiting Legoland with a toddler, older children, or just with adults there are a number of shows around the park that you will enjoy. Currently the park offers the Pirates of Skeleton Bay Stunt Show, Lego Friends to the Rescue, Little Red Riding Hood and Three Little Pigs (at the Duplo Valley Theatre), as well as 4 movies at the Imagination 4D theatre.
Legoland Hotels
Now we didn’t get to stay in either of the Legoland hotels, but they both looked amazing from the outside, and I’ve since had a google to see the insides too and they are just as awesome. There is the Legoland Resort and the Legoland Castle Hotel. Both contain themed rooms which look so much fun, everything is bright and colourful and of course very child friendly.
Tips to make the most of your trip to Legoland with a toddler
The Legoland App
Before your visit you should definitely download the Legoland app! It was really great to help us navigate the park and plan where we were going next. It is free on Google Play and the App Store.
- The app gives you a virtual map to help you see where you are in relation to the attractions you want to see.
- It provides you with live queue times so you can see which ride to visit next and how long to expect to wait.
- It is packed with information on the park, like opening times and and accessibility information, and each of the rides, such as the height restrictions
- Plus you’ll never miss your favourite show as you can set an alert to remind you before it starts.
Pushchair Hire
Legoland is really big, so can involve quite a lot of walking and lots of standing around waiting in queues. So if your visiting Legoland with a toddler you may find the need for a pushchair. Although we took our own pushchair with us, if you are strapped for space in your car or just don’t fancy taking your own pushchair with you, you can hire single and double pushchairs from the big shop at the beginning of Legoland. The single pushchair’s can be hired for £10 a day and doubles for £15 a day. The pushchairs cannot be booked I advance and are on a first come first served basis.
Places to eat in Legoland Windsor
There are lots of food options available to you in Legoland. Obviously you can bring your own picnic if you like, Legoland has a number of designated picnic areas. But if you fancy a hot meal or just didn’t fancy bringing food with you there are plenty of places you can eat.
You will find all the restaurants and cafes listed here. Whether you fancy a light bite in the Hill Top Cafe, Fish and Chips in the Harbourside Restaurant, Flame Grilled Chicken at the Knights Table or maybe just a dessert at the Ice Cream Parlour there is sure to be something all the family will like.
As Elian doesn’t tend to have a huge appetite we decided to go for the City Walk Pizza & Pasta Restaurant located in Heartlake City. It is an all you can eat, serve yourself Pizza, Pasta and Salad buffet, but Elian ate for free as he is only 2! So we didn’t worry too much if he ate a lot…which in the end he did! We were able to fill ourselves up with a selection of hot pizza and pasta dishes, refillable drinks, plenty of salad and even an ice cream (if you wanted it) which was great to keep us going for the rest of the day. It wasn’t cheap, at around £15 per adult, but we expect prices like that at a theme park anyway.

Our final thoughts about visiting Legoland with a toddler
Well we loved our trip to Legoland. We would like to say a big thank you to Kiddylicious for inviting us and providing is with tickets. Elian had an amazing day and I definitely think we will be back in the future. I honestly wish we had had another day in the park as there was so much to do and see. If Elian had been under the 90cm we may have struggle a little but luckily he is just over. I would suggest measuring your child before you go, just in case!
We were lucky our trip was on a weekday and during term time so we didn’t encounter many long queues. I can see how it may have been a different experience had we of visited on a weekend, but I still think you would have an amazing time regardless.

WOW! We hadn’t considered Legoland previously, as our children aren’t into Lego… but after reading this detailed guide I am definitely tempted to book a trip!
Oh Amber I think the boys especially would love it! Dude loves his Duplo lego but not real lego yet, but he loved all the sculptures and the rides, its not actually overly lego if that makes sense?
I really want to get my godson that marbled vest Elian is wearing – looks perfect for the summer. Perhaps I’d take him to Legoland, too!
Its from JMW Kids on Instagram, its a romper and I am in love with it! It’s so cute!!
We have been to Legoland in Manchester a few times but not this yet. Looks spectacular.
Oh I didn’t know there was one in Manchester too? Good to know

Looks like you had a lovely trip to Legoland. It’s been far too long since we visited and I can’t wait to do it again.
It was great for our little boy, I was unsure about taking a toddler start with in case there wasn’t enough for him to do, but he loved it
Oh Wow! I would like to see miniland as well, i do not have a child but probably i should get one only to go and see these places! 😀
Glad that you had a great time!
Lol just borrow one! Miniland was really cool, all the structures are really fun to see. Legoland with a toddler is a bit crazy as they just want to run everywhere but we still spent a good amount of time in lego miniland pointing out moving bits to our boy
Even though I didn’t need this guide to Legoland with a toddler, since I don’t have any kids, it was fun to read about Legoland, and I was happy to see that Kiddalicious had a nice time with the trains and with the animal spotting. I got very curious about what ninjago and heartlake was too. So if I ever end up in Legoland I might just check those two out!
Legoland is great for all ages I think, obviously its just directed at kids. I am sure you would like legoland even without a toddler! hehe!
We also have a Legoland near Singapore, at the border of Malaysia. Been there twice and it was fun but the one you visited look really fun with big dinasour and giraffe lego. Legoland is always great for smaller kids!!
Yeah it is a great place for little ones. My dude just loved spotting all the lego animals and running around. Legoland with a toddler can be challenge but lots of fun
I almost cried. You see, I got married in Carlsbad, and my husband’s family all went to Legoland a few days before the wedding (I wasnt there) and they sent me a photo of all of them with the giraffe (my favorite animal) and you posted a pic of him up there and I got emotional, hahaha!
Awww thats pretty sweet!! hehe!! You should go visit Legoland and reminisce!

Lego Land looks like so much fun! My son absolutely loves legos but I think he might be a little too old for this place!
Its great for kids of all ages tbh, most of the kids were older than my little one so we will definitely be going back again in a few years when he is older
I remember going to Legoland when I was younger and I was in awe of how they managed to create so many amazing sculptures out of just lego! I do believe it would be such a fun place to go for children and adults alike.
The lego architects are so clever! Some of the buildings and structures were just amazing
It looks like he had a great time! I have been wanting to take my son here but wasn’t sure how he would do. Now I definitely need to soon. Thanks for sharing!
As long as her is over 90cm then legoland with a toddler is a great idea, I’m sure he would love it
