These photos are actually a few weeks old now (and if you follow us on instagram you may have already seen a few of them!) but I had forgotten to share them on here. Days like these are the ones I want to remember, the everyday normal moments of family life. Its stuff you don’t really think about, a walk in the park, a trip to Aberavon beach, nothing special or big but the little moments that make up everyday life. Thats why I have started this little mini series of Ordinary Moments, to capture and remember the little things, the everyday joy!
An Evening Down the Beach
We are honestly so lucky to live so close to Aberavon Beach, just a short 10 minute drive away. It is a beautiful 3 mile stretch of sandy beach, with a great promenade along the top, restaurants, cafes and parks for the kids. It has always been somewhere we have visited. And although I don’t actually like sand…or sea water…I love nothing more than a walk along the top, with an ice cream in the summer and a coffee in the winter. Its the perfect way to get some much needed fresh air and to let the kids run off some energy.
On this occasion Elian brought along his wiggle scooter, to get some practice in. The promenade is perfect for little ones with bikes and scooters as it has a dedicated bike lane next to the walking lane…and its miles of flat surface are great for learning and gaining confidence on 2 or 4 wheels. He is loving the scooter at the moment and has really gotten to grips with how to use it. He was whizzing up and down while we walked along casually with Effie, he probably did double the distance we did, haha!
The kids also had some fun on the old giant whale and penguin statues, which have seen better days, but are a part of the history and landscape of the beach. Jon managed to take a few cute photos of the 2 of them as the sun was setting. And then of course we had to stop for some snacks, lol!
It was an all round lovely afternoon and no doubt this is how we shall be spending many evenings over the summer months. Its just so lovely to have the freedom to be out in nature and spend a few relaxing hours together as a family.
