Wales is jam packed with great places to visit, whether your looking for a beach to while a way a few hours, a great summer holiday destination, somewhere for a quiet coffee, or something exciting for the kids to do, we have it all.

I recently asked the blogging community for their favourite places to visit in Wales and got such a great range of responses that I had to split this post into 2 parts. You can check out Part 1 here, in it you’ll find some hidden gem beautiful beaches, an Elvis Festival and a quaint traditional welsh village with some great shopping.

places to visit in walesAnglesea Sea Zoo: Personally I’m not much of a Zoo person but Kim from Nash Reviews recently visited Anglesea Sea Zoo with her family and they loved it. Her review on the zoo actually makes me want to visit as it looks like lots of fun and its more of an aquarium.

Barafundle Bay & Pembrokeshire in general: I think Pembrokeshire is one of the most beautiful places in the world and Natalie from It’s NMC obviously thinks the same. Her favourite place is Barafundle Bay, she recently visited for her boyfriend’s birthday and took some beautiful photos for her post on it. And if your looking for somewhere to stay Cathy from Mummy Travels would recommend Bluestone for a great family holiday destination. Rachel from The Awesome Lady is in Love with Pembrokeshire as a whole and you can find a few posts about her trip there on her blog.

Dinas Island: For Wendy from Daisies and Pie her favourite place to visit is Dinas Island, and its not just get favourite, her children have said it is their favourite holiday ever! You can see her post on it here and see what they got up to whilst they were there.

Black Rock Sands: Karen from Mini Travellers loves two great welsh places, number 1 is Black Rock Sands in Porthmadog, she’s written a great post about all the fun she and her little ones had there. Whats rather cool is that you can actually park on the beach!

places to visit in walesGwynfryn Farm, Pwllheli: The second place Karen loves is Gwynfryn Farm in Pwllheli. This is a working farm with accommodation, a pool and play parks, a great place for a family holiday in wales, plus its close to some great beaches. Karen took lots of great pictures of her kids having fun on the farm which you’ll find on her blog post.

Manor House Wildlife Park: Katie from Mami 2 Five thinks Manor House Wildlife Park is one of the best places to visit in Wales and I love it there too! I went a few years ago with my girlies and think it is a great place. Anna’s Zoo is great for all the family, I especially loved the Wallabies!

The Gower: Now I’m lucky enough to live just a 20 minute drive from the start of the Gower, but I hate to say I have only explored a tiny bit of it myself, but I hope to remedy that this summer, especially now we have the pooch, he should encourage us to go walking more. And Louise from A Strong Coffee agrees, her and her family love spending time on the Gower Coast and you can see her post on it here.

places to visit in walesChaiholics: Kirstie from Kimamely Beauty found it hard to chose saying she loved Roath Park  and Coffee Barker in Cardiff, but had recently visited new cafe Chaiholics which she thought was great, check out her blog post on it if you’d like to find out more.

Cardiff Bay: Melissa from The Diary of a Jewellery Lover thinks Cardiff Bay is packed with great things to do and places to visit and she has written a great guide on What To See And Do In Cardiff Bay to help you make the most of your visit there.

Doctor Who Experience: And one of the things you can do in Cardiff Bay is visit The Doctor Who Experience, which is the favourite thing to do of Joanne from Opposable Thumbs. If your a Who fan visiting the experience is a must, its packed with Dr Who history, costumes, sets and all manner of other fun things.

Portmeirion: Another favourite of Joanne’s is the picturesque Portmeirion. Check out her Cult TV Tour of Wales post featuring her time in the home of The Prisoner. Again I hate to admit I’ve never made it there either but after checking out the photos online it just looks so cute and beautiful, a lovely seaside village with beautiful coastline.

Humble by Nature: Clare from Dorset Diverocee says this “It’s got to be the Wye Valley and ‘Humble by Nature‘ a working farm attraction run by Kate Humble and her husband Ludo Graham. I’m a bit biased as they are friends of mine but it really is an amazing place – loads of activities for children, great courses for adults, animals galore, a cafe, holiday accommodation…the list goes on. They are even holding their own festival this summer. Really worth a visit.”

So thats the end of this months According to Bloggers post, lots and lots of ideas for place to visit in Wales. I hope this helps encourage a few of you to come visit Wales one day or for you locals to get out an explore the place you live. I’ll be running another According to Blogger soon so keep an eye out for it.bothofus_sign

Wow, I never realized there was so much to do in Wales! I went once when I was 10-years-old, so I barely remember any of it! I need to go back now 🙂

It is a beautiful country and people often overlook it when visiting the UK, they all go to London which is just a big busy city! Cardiff is so much nicer!

I live in Pembrokeshire and have grown up here since being born! I’m currently at Uni in Bristol which makes me so homesick as I miss the beautiful beaches and countryside so much. But it’s a beautiful place to return home to and I would recommend a visit to anyone!! x

We will be going there this summer, so hoping to get in a few of the recommended beaches. Do you have a favourite beach?

Just thought I’d add that I’ve done a new post on Pembrokeshire here:

In case anyone’s looking for more info on that area specifically! I think I could write a whole blog about Pembrokeshire?!
