Let’s talk baby wearing!
Baby wraps, baby carriers and backpacks, let face it as functional as they are, they can sometimes lack a splash of colour and personality. That is until you check out the beautiful range of baby wraps from Amawrap. I adored wearing a wrap with Elian, I felt like a wrap was safe and secure for him, and super comfy for me. He never took to a ring sling and when he was small he hated his pushchair, just as Effie seems to, so a wrap carrier was always the best way forward for us! So when Amawrap approached us to try one of their baby wrap slings I got pretty excited and jumped at the chance to test out a new wrap. This weekend we have been on a family outing to test out our new wrap for this Amawrap review.

What we thought of our Amawrap Posy Rosy Baby Wrap Sling
We took our carrier on a family trip to Margam park to give it a proper road test. The wrap comes with its own instructions to show you how to, step by step, tie a traditional wrap carrier. Tying a carrier takes a little practice to start with but after a short while it becomes an awesome trick to woo non baby wearing type folk, but Amawrap have a handy video if you need extra help. Luckily I am pretty adept at it these days so can tie one with no problems.
In these pics Effie weighs in at nearly 16lb and while I’m a size 14-16 top I felt like there was plenty more room in it to grow with her, and some. Effie was super comfortable and settled in the wrap really quickly, tucking in under the wrap against me, but has a little quirk that she loves to hold my hand to get to sleep. Thankfully is wasn’t a problem to untuck just the one arm while still keeping her completely supported, and easy to tuck it back in when she had nodded off. (She sleeps really well in a wrap, I assume its the closeness she loves, so often when I’m trying to get stuff done at home the best way to keep her calm and get her off to sleep is to pop her in a wrap.)
At no point through our afternoon out did I feel like it needed adjustment or came loose. The material is strong and doesn’t give so it remains secure for long periods of time. I had so many compliments on how pretty the fabric is from friends and other mums, I really love how unique the wrap is compared to the others on the market. And I was honestly surprised by just how soft the cotton is, meaning it is lovely and gentle against her head when she was tucked in and where it rested behind her knees, I know it’s not going to rub and cause any irritation.
The Downside
The only con that I can find is that it doesn’t come with its own bag. When I’m routing through my changing bag, everything gets tangled up in it, and the last thing I want to do is shove it in the boot next to a dirty pram. It is quite a large quantity of material so its a bit of a pain to store too. A simple drawstring bag or little pouch to keep it tidy and safe would be a huge plus point.
Ok, I tell a lie, one other teeny con is Jon won’t be seen dead in a girly pattern wrap, but I’m not sharing it anyway so that doesn’t matter! hehe
