Bargain Beauty Finds at Discount Stores

July 17, 2014March 1, 2021 Chantele 11 comments

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Bargain BeautyWe all have discount stores on our local high street or retail estate, they are becoming increasingly popular in the current financial climate and are popping up all over the place. Plus there are new brands starting every day. It used to be Poundland, Hypervalue and Poundstretchers, but now we have B&M, Home Bargains and many others. A new one recently opened up in Swansea (when I say new, I mean new to me, it possibly opened any time in the last few years as that is how long it had been since I had actually been to Swansea!) its a company I hadn’t seen before, so not sure if it is new, or just new to us – Discount UK. Do you have one near you? Any way one of the things these discount stores seem to be great at is Bargain Beauty products, and thats what I found at Discount UK.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]I did my usual, ‘I’ll just nip in to see what they have, pick up some essentials’, when I say essentials I usually mean things like tissues, but this time I found some great bargains. Not all beauty related but quite a few were, and ended up spending a fair bit more than intended, which is one of the down side of shops like this…’oh thats a bargain, Ill get that, even though I don’t really need it’, ‘thats so cheap, ill pick up a few’…

Above is one of those general money box tins, that you can get at any discount store, that was one of the items I actually went in for, as we had just filled and opened one (£85 in change! not bad). So that was £1!

Here is a few of the other items (there was more but these were the best bits!)Bargain BeautyNail polish is one of the items I always look out for as you can often get some great bargains. The Sally Hansen Diamond Shine Top and Base Coat was £1 but it is currently £8.69 in Boots. The Leather Look one was just one I fancied trying, it isn’t branded so not sure if it will be any good, it was also £1. The Myleen Klass nail wraps were one of the best bargains 3 for £1, I have used these in the past and I love them, so I picked up a huge pile of them (12 actually!) you can get them for around £1.50 on Amazon but they are £5.99 in Boots and they had a really good selection of patterns.

Bargain BeautyNext up I found some great hair products. I love Aussie Miracle Moist range but I have been having trouble finding this specific one recently, this wasn’t a real bargain at £2.99, but its still £4.69 at Boots. The Argan Oil is something I have been looking at trying for a while, I doubt this is a high end argan oil as they are really pricy, but I thought it was worth a try at just £1.

The sign is something I picked up for our photography props box, hoping it may come in useful for weddings and engagement shoots, it was £1.99. Last of the items I bought were the Disney tissues and nail file set, they are all Disney trademarked so that is pretty good to start with, the tissues were 89p, and the file set was £1. I can’t find these exact ones anywhere else but Disney tissues sell at £1.50 for a same size pack and the files for £3 in Claires.

So here are a few of the other bargain beauty finds, all the makeup below was £1, even though it was from brands like Revlon, Rimmel, Maybelline, Barry M and Calvin Klein. Granted they are all old season, but they are all still usable if you are looking for a bargain! Cheap MakeupDiscounted beautySome more of the Haircare products on offer, at great prices. And lastly those tins! I just loved them, so I snapped a quick picture, they are all vintage Coca Cola prints.

Do you shop at Discount stores? Spotted any beauty bargains recently?

I never find anything good in my local 99p shop, but sometimes in Bristol I find the odd gem, or something I always use and love to pay less for!

It can be hit and miss! You sometimes won’t get anything for a few trips, then you’ll get a load in one trip!

Oooh I hadn’t thought to look in the bargain shops for things like shampoo! I’ll be keeping an eye out from now on as I’m a huge aussie hair fan! I love my Sally Hensen lip plumping gloss so I’ll look out for that too!

    Love lucinda xx

Im always surprised by some of the brands that randomly pop up there! Was chuffed to find Aussie and the Naked Beauty Range as that is really nice and can be quite pricy at times!

The Sally Hansen was a total find to be honest, they often have the nail varnish in strange colours, but I was so happy to find the Diamond Shine as that is still sold everywhere at a much higher price

Jon pops his tips in the tin from working in the pub and then we just throw in any loose change we have. Its probably been since feb time, so its in the savings account now.

Some great buys here, thank goodness we don’t have one of those shops here, I’d spend a fortune!
