Ok so weirdly I look bigger in the first picture than in the second even though the first is my 16 weeks and the second is my 17 weeks! Hmm! Well anyway this is our first proper pregnancy post (don’t worry all those readers who aren’t interested in pregnancy I promise not to become a pregnancy blogger, just an occasional update…honest!)Week 16 (28th December) was finally the week I started to feel like a human again and that was very nice indeed. If you saw our New Years Day announcement post you will know I’ve had a pretty hard time of it, between extreme 24 hour nausea which caused a completely lack of appetite, major fatigue, a bout of fainting, 2 lots of chesty coughs/colds and a 5 day round of insomnia I would say I spent the majority of our first trimester in bed or curled up on the sofa. Jon has been a legend luckily and looked after everything whilst I’ve been taking it easy. But Week 16 finally bought me some respite, an appetite (still not great but better), only minor nausea and just a feeling of finally feeling well again, yay!
The stripped top is from the H&M maternity range and is ridiculously comfortable! I had it for christmas and have been using it as a work top when we photograph newborns as it is really soft but still thin so I don’t get too warm. You can’t see my trousers but I am wearing Jojo Maman Bebe Black Wide Leg Work Trousers, these are over bump ones and again are super comfy. I have found getting trousers quite tricky due to my height, I’m 5.9″ so not super tall but maternity ones just all seem to be too short on me. Luckily Jojo Maman Bebe range seem to be a little longer so fit me better.
Week 17 (4th January) not really much has changed since week 16 tbh, I’m still feeling well this week, although appetite has dropped back down again so I’m not eating huge amounts.
Khaki top is from Debenhams website but is part of the Dorothy Perkins Maternity Collection its a lovely soft stretch cotton so is nice and comfy over bump! As it is a pretty simple top I have been wearing it with this really cute necklace I was sent from House of Fraser before Christmas. It is a Grey & Willow Sunray Double Necklace and I love it. I’ve worn the top loads already so the necklace has been my go to piece to add a bit of interest to my outfit. I have found a lot of maternity wear (at least the stuff I have been liking) is quite simple and plain so adding accessories can really bring a bit of life into an outfit, as you all know I am not a plain and simple kinda girl when it comes to my clothes! I think the necklace will get plenty of wear before bean arrives.
Again you can’t see my trousers but I am wearing my first maternity purchase which was a pair of Jojo Maman Bebe Boot Leg Jeans, again the length issue with jeans but these were perfect. The other issue I had with jeans when looking for them is that everywhere seems to stock skinny jeans! Now if you know me you know I don’t do skinny jeans normally, so the chance of wearing them while pregnant is even slimmer! So when I finally found boot leg ones that were long enough I was over the moon, and they have been a godsend so far.
So that’s my quick pregnancy update for you all, we haven’t had our 16 week midwife appointment yet due to the festive season and bank holidays but our 20 week scan is booked in for the 28th January and we do plan to find out the gender so I’ll have a bit of a poll over on FB closer to the date so you can all try guess what were having!
I loved H&M maternity range when I was pregnant with Piglet, so comfortable to wear and washes well too.
