I am very excited to introduce you all to DUC Bags! Over the next few months you will see me posting lots about these guys on here and over on our Instagram and Facebook page, as we are super stoked to be their new (and first) brand ambassadors! But DUC aren’t your regular fashion brand, they support a charity foundation and 1000’s of children in need, keep reading to learn more.
*Warning image heavy post…like you expect anything else from me!*
So who are DUC?
Well, DUC is a 1 for 1 company, who design and sell ethically made bags and accessories from Ireland to help support the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation in Vietnam and Mongolia. Their bags are made in Vietnam through a fair-trade factory, and for every bag sold something is donated to children in Vietnam. Each bag range donates a different item. Elian now has a DUC Jr bag which for every sale vaccinates a child, and I have a original DUC bag (or DUC School Bag) which donates a school back pack and school kit to a child to allow them to attend school and learn. These are such basic items we take for granted in the UK, yet can make a world of difference to children in places like Vietnam.
What do I think of the bag?
Well you know me guys, I’m gonna be honest even if I’m working with a brand. I believe honesty is key to my readership and relationship with you guys. And 100% honest I love this bag! The quality on it is really high, it is made of a strong polyester material and the workmanship is amazing, I should imagine it will last quite a while, even with the daily use my own rucksack gets.
The patterned fabric on Elian’s is really cute and the bag is really bright and colourful, he went for it the minute I opened the package and has been walking around the house with it! Its quite a big bag for a toddler (11L capacity) but the straps can do up small enough to fit him, and he has loved wearing it, and putting his books in it for the library. Its a great size for a nursery or first school bag as you can fit books and a lunch box and water bottle in it. Plus it comes in 5 different colours and designs at the moment, so lots of choice.
What Elian is wearing:
My Outfit …incase you care what I’m wearing!
- DUC Backpack in Robin Print
- Tea and Triumph Jumper: Ada and Alfred (I live in this at the moment)
- Jeans: F+F at Tesco
- Shoes: Champion
So if your on the market for a new bag for yourself, your child or your partner please do check out the DUC collections. They also do a really awesome comic strip messenger bag I am currently fancying! Plus a sports bag, cooler and pencil case, all of which come in a range of patterns and colours. You can buy them direct from the website or they have recently launched an Amazon store which is being stocked with all the new and exciting items as they arrive in the UK ready for shipping to their new homes. Please consider making an ethical purchase and helping others in the world.
If you follow me on YouTube you will know I am undergoing a decluttering and minimalism/simplifying challenge this year and trying to reduce and refine the items in my life. So getting new products might seem counterintuitive to that, but what I have learnt from KonMari and the many vloggers I have been watching recently is that investing in 1 or 2 quality items which you will use daily or a lot is a good idea. I would rather spend a larger amount on a quality rucksack that will get used a lot over the next few years, than purchase multiple bags at a lower cost and quality that will break or get damaged more easily. I use a rucksack daily with Elian, instead of a changing bag, plus Elian has started wanting to carry stuff like me also, and his little gruffalo backpack is tiny so won’t actually hold anything! So if I am going to buy something new I would rather it come from an ethical brand, and if they happen to do a little extra good work because of my purchase that is even better! More ethical consumerism is needed and this purchase is a little step towards that for me.
I will be interviewing the minds behind DUC very soon, so please keep your eyes peeled for that exciting post with Anne-Marie and Ian. If you have any questions you would like me to ask them please leave them in the comments below.
So what do you guys think of the bag? Something your little ones would use?
*I received the bags free of charge, but all opinions and words are my own*
