If you follow us over on instagram you will know that every year we have the tradition of taking portraits of the kids in amongst the blossoms trees local to us. There is just something about the delicate pink and white blooms and the beautiful background it gives to portraits that I just love!
I literally spend weeks in April and May driving past the place we take the photos waiting for the flowers to bloom enough, and then praying we get dry weather at the same time! Blossoms only bloom for such a short space of time, and you can never really judge when it will happen so it is a bit of a juggling act! But thankfully for the last 4 years we have managed to take photos there, and they are some of my favourite photos we take all year.
Anyway, on with this years blossom tree portraits! This is pretty image heavy, as always when I take photos of the kids, but they are all just so cute and I love seeing the two of them growing together. Their personalities are really starting to show in photos now, Elian is a joker and Effie is full of Sass!
What the kids wore
I found Effie’s dress first, on Vinted. I knew I wanted her in some sort of smock dress this year, as she wore a red one last year in the photos. So then it was a case of finding Elian’s outfit to coordinate with her dress! Which I eventually found on the Next website.
Elian is wearing a polo and trousers both from Next and boots from Primark
Effie is wearing a dress from John Lewis (via Vinted), socks from eBay and shoes from TU at Sainsbury’s. Her hair bows are from Next although you can only just see them!
Do you have any family traditions with your kids?
Do you visit a certain place each year, or do something special on birthdays maybe? I love to learn about family traditions as I think they are so special and are lovely to help you mark time throughout the year. We have traditions around Christmas time like lots of families do, but I love that we have this in the Spring that we always look forward to.
