While I am off taking a little maternity break I am pleased to bring you a few guest posts from some great fellow bloggers. Today’s post is from Victoria of Victoria Hockley – Mummy To My Cheeky Little Monkey. Victoria is going to tell you all about her Top 5 family friendly place to visit in Newcastle.

Newcastle has so much to offer when it comes to family friendly places to visit and not all of them cost money! As a mum of two boys aged three and six, we try to balance days out in the holidays to free museums or places that won’t cost us too much!
Since we have school holidays coming up and Daddy does not have any time off when the boys are off, its going to be up to Mummy to entertain the two boys, so here are my choices for where I could take the boys over the holidays
Centre for Life
Centre for Life, Life Science Centre, Times Square, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 4EP
The Centre for life is an award winning science village right in the heart of Newcastle. This hub of scientific knowledge and innovation is suitable for both young and old, with ever changing exhibitions and research taking place. 4 and under are free so I think we will definitely be taking advantage of the free admission and going for a day out at Centre For Life! Plus they currently have an exhibition on about the Moon and both boys are fascinated by space and the moon and rockets!

Ouseburn Farm
Ouseburn Farm, Ouseburn Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 2PA
This is somewhere I have been meaning to visit for years with James and I think Freddie is now old enough to visit as well as he loves animals. The farm is situated not far outside Newcastle city centre, so for us to visit we would get the bus into town from where we live and then jump onto the metro to Byker or Manors then walk down to the farm. This would probably be somewhere we would need to take daddy or the grandparents.

Seven Stories
Seven Stories, The National Centre for Children’s Books, 30 Lime Street, Ouseburn Valley, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE1 2PQ
This is somewhere I have never actually been before, but James has been with the school and he loved it so maybe we will pop back over the school holidays. Seven Stories is right next to Ouseburn Farm, so it is possible we could combine a visit to both of them on the same day! Entrance to Seven Stories is £7.70 for an adult, £6.60 for James and £2.50 for Freddie. They currently have exhibitions on Elmer and Aliens Love Underpants on so I think both boys would enjoy themselves!
You’ll find all upcoming events and info on their website
Great North Museum
Great North Museum: Hancock, Barras Bridge, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE2 4PT
This is somewhere that both James and Freddie love to visit and we go most school holidays. Great North Museum is free entrance but does have donation boxes. We love going to visit here, James especially loves to see the big T-Rex!! Come May 2019 they will be hosting Dippy on Tour from the National History Museum and James is so excited to go and visit the big Diplodocus!!

Discovery Museum
Discovery Museum, Blandford Square, Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear NE1 4JA
The current main exhibition is Circus! Show of Shows celebrating 250 years of the circus in Great Britain. There are also circus themed activities on for the school half term week including circus skills workshops, clown crafts and much more. What we love about the Discovery Museum is the fact its free so you can go as many times as you would like!
You’ll find opening times and all event info on their website
So these are some of the places we are hoping to visit over the school holidays!
