Keeping Your Technology Tidy With Cable Organisers

Tom Barrington Cable OrganisersCables are the absolute bane of my life. I am such a tech person and I hate wireless this and that. Nothing says “I’m going to work straight away” like a cable that goes from one connection to the other. I have spent countless hours sitting on the floor in-front of my hifi, cutting, re-wiring plugs and routing cables neatly into it’s purpose built hifi stand. I’m an odd ball and there’s something quite therapeutic about creating order from what starts off as chaos. I don’t  have to pull the cables out or add any cables to it, its there, its organised and it’s set to go. The same can’t be said however about my Mac system.

My Mac generally sits on my work desk with lots and lots of cables pouring out of the back, extra port adapters let me have two printers, several hard drives and other devices and it’s connected and ready to go. The last thing I want to be doing is fussing behind the iMac screen trying to fit in another cable or take one out to make space. Sure I could route cables and tack them in place like I have my stereo system, but several times a year we take the iMac on the road with a printer to shoot print on the night events. Having the cables taped together isn’t really fun when it comes to moving gear, and on the flip side, having taped up cables in my camera bag just looks messy next to all the other classy gear.

In comes these awesome hand made leather cable organisers from Tom Barrington. They are very well made from beautiful cuts of leather, and best of all have a metal popper so you can snap them open and closed very easily to allow the removal of cables from your now organised collection of wires. I must admit, I had a crazy moment when I first opened them up and they were stuck together in pairs. My first comment was “ why on earth are they so big, I’m going to need to group together a huge lot of cables to fit in there”. Chantele took hold of the cable tidy, took them apart and folded them over to close the clasps at the end, the way they should be leaving me slightly embarrassed.

Tom Barrington Cable OrganisersThe leather cable organisers are super smart and look great tidying up the power cables behind my iMac and my silly long mouse cable. I shall also be using the others to bundle up the few usb and power cables I keep in my camera bag instead of using coloured electrical tape in future.

Oh what a fab idea! My portable office means my chargers come everywhere with me and these would look far better as pull wires out of my bags than the mess that currently falls out.

They definitely help keep your cables tidier! They look far better and smarter too!

I definitely prefer cables too. I always find wireless can often stop working. Used to have a wireless mouse but it got a right pain when i had to keep changing the batteries all the time. Very often i didn’t have any charged up either so i was without a mouse for some time x

Very true, Jon hates wireless as it just doesn’t guarantee that it will work every time
