Oh the lovely warm weather is here finally, we are well into the summer months now. I was desperately in need of some new summer dresses that fit my slightly bigger mum figure since having the kids and Yours Clothing offered to send me a few items to try out ready for our little family holiday in Butlins.
I’ll be honest and say I have never had items from Yours before, they weren’t a brand that was on my radar…and I have no idea why! I actually had trouble choosing just 4 items as I loved many of the styles and fabrics that they had on their summer dresses and skirts, as well as a number of shorts. I could happily have chosen a dozen! Plus I now have my eye on this rather lush Distressed Denim Jacket.
But alas I had to chose 4 items and I went with 4 very different style dresses. I adore wearing dresses, and if the cut is right they are just so flattering, plus they are super pretty for the summer. Check out below to see what was I picked and what I think of them!
Just FYI I ordered them all in a size 16, and I am 5ft 9in so you can get a general idea of the lengths!
The dresses were gifted by Yours in exchange for this review, but all opinions are my own
I chose this Yours London Curve Pink Floral Shirred Waist Maxi Dress to wear to Effie’s Christening and 2nd birthday party a few weeks ago. I wanted something long, but floaty so it didn’t look too formal, but was still smart enough for the christening. This dress was perfect on the day, the fabric is silky but lightweight enough for the warm weather and so I could move around the party easily. I love the shirred section to help give me a little shape, and the cross over bust meant I could still feed Effie if she wanted milk. I had loads of compliments on how nice it was on me. I ordered a size 16 and it fitted me great. Im 5ft 9in and it was the perfect length too.
I’m not usually one to go for wrap dresses as I always worry that it will gape too much on the chest as I don’t have a big bust, but I thought I would take a punt and see how it looked on. And honestly I will say I think this Limited Collection Curve Green Ditsy Wrap Dress was the surprise favourite of the lot! I just love how I look and feel in it! The wrap section pulled tight enough that I didn’t have any problems with it on my boobs, The puffy sleeve are just so fun and pretty, they have a really good puff to them! The length is lovely and flattering, and there is a lot of fabric in the skirt! Its a thicker, stiffer cotton fabric so it holds the shape well, but needs ironing! The pattern is lovely and summery too. I can see me wearing this lots
Next up is probably the one I will be wearing the most this summer. This is the Curve Black Floral High Low Dress. And it is just so easy to wear, it is definitely a great everyday dress that I think will be getting lots of day to day wear. It’s a lovely soft lightweight cotton so is perfect for running errands and general mum life in the summer. The style is so flattering too, I felt the most comfortable in this out of all of them. I loved the dipped hem and the wide sleeves, so floaty and cooling. The little buttons mean I can fee in it if I need to. The sleeves and neckline have a delicate scalloped lace trim to them, which just adds an extra feminine edge to the outfit too. Wish they did this style in a different colour or fabric as I would definitely purchase another.
This is the only dress I was a little unsure on. The Limited Collection Curve Red Stripe Print Midaxi Smock Dress is made of a lightweight jersey fabric so great if its not such a hot day. I loved the lose shape to it and the longer tie sleeves…Im just not sure on the bold red and white stripped fabric, and the Botton trim going across rather than down like the rest of the skirt. But saying that I have already worn it a few times as it is super soft and really comfortable to wear. I think it may actually be better as an early autumn dress when the weather starts getting a little colder, I can see me pairing it with my black leather biker jacket, black tights and Dr Marten boots! Maybe I need to try a belt to break up the bold fabric? What do you think?
So there you have it, the 4 dresses I chose from Yours. Which is your favourite? Do you fancy any of them for yourself, or do you have your eye on something else? I would love to know so please pop me a comment below.
