I hadn’t tried cooking pasta directly in the pressure cooker before, but I had seen a number of great looking recipes using dry pasta straight into the pot. So I thought it was about time I gave it a go.
Honestly since having the kids any recipe that can make my life a little easier is a big plus point with me. I love a meal I can dump in my pressure cooker or slow cooker and simple leave, knowing it will be all ready when the timer beeps. It helps me save time, but also allows me to still make great meals from scratch. Which in turn is good for our health and cheaper on the family food budget.
I found a few recipes for creamy pastas, which is always a hit in our house. So I adapted them for our own Creamy Chicken Pasta Recipe. It turned out so

Why use a Pressure Cooker or Instant Pot
The pressure cooker I have is the Crock-Pot Express Pressure Cooker which is a 12-in-1 programmable multi cooker. Apart from multiple different pre-timed pressure cooker settings, there is also a slow cooker setting, steam setting, sauté setting, dessert, yogurt and keep warm setting. So this awesome little device really does earn its space in your kitchen. Ive yet to use the steam, dessert or yogurt setting, but should I ever want to try a recipe which requires that setting then I will be able to.
This has now replaced my slow cooker permanently. I only need the 1 appliance in my kitchen to serve both functions. Which is great as I already have a small kitchen, so less bulky appliances to store. Win/win!
If you are cooking joints of meat or tougher pieces of meat the main benefit is the low cook time (I can cook a whole large chicken in 25mins!) The high pressure allows you to drastically cut the time it takes to cook dishes. If you’re cooking a dish like this though, the cook time would be pretty similar to if you chose to cook it on the hob. But the main benefit for me is the fact I can set it to cook, and leave it for the time it takes. No need to be standing over your hob or having to keep stirring the dish. Once the timer is set you can walk away and get on with something else. This is a pretty big plus point for a parent as it helps save me time and makes everything way easier.
Creamy Chicken Pasta Recipe for the Pressure Cooker
Have you tried cooking pasta in your pressure cooker/instant pot yet? This great creamy chicken pasta recipe is the perfect pasta recipe to pop in your pressure cooker as the end result is a deliciously cheesy pasta dish that all the family will love. So simple to create, budget friendly and nice and filling! Add your choice of garlic bread side and you have the perfect evening meal for all the family.
Ingredients you will need for our Creamy Chicken Pasta Recipe
- 3 large chicken breasts (diced)
- 200g Farfalla Pasta (or your chosen shape)
- 2 cups of chicken stock
- 1tbsp Italian seasoning
- 1tsp lazy garlic (or a clove of garlic diced)
- 100g Spinach
- 200g cream cheese
- 100g grated mozzarella
- parmasan to top
- a dash of oil
- salt and pepper to taste
How to make Pressure Cooker Pasta
- Set your pressure cooker to sauté and add a little oil, fry your chicken pieces until browned (you may need to do this in batches or I fry on the hob instead!)
- Once the chicken is browned stop the sauté setting and add your stock, garlic, seasoning and pasta to the pot. You want the pasta and chicken submerged in stock, add a little extra if needed. Secure the lid, close your pressure valve and select the manual high pressure setting. Set timer for 5 minutes and start.
- Once the timer is done, stop the machine and use the quick release on the valve (watch for the steam!!). Open the post and give it all a good stir to break up the pasta and check it is cooked.
- Add your spinach and cream cheese to the pot, stirring it well to combine and the spinach will start to wilt. Add the mozzerella and stir again to combine. Add salt and pepper to taste if needed
- Allow the dish to stand for 5-10 and the sauce will thicken nicely!
- Serve with a sprinkling of Parmesan and a side of garlic bread
- Enjoy!
