If you know you’ve got a room that is in need of a bit of refurbishment, then we’ve got some ideas for you. Knowing what to do to make each room perfect for you, when you’re possibly going to be spending a lot of money on it, can sometimes be hard. Some people just don’t have the vision, which is perfectly normal. But when the paint is looking desperately in need of a refresh, and you’ve had the same furniture for years and years, you know it is time to give your rooms a little refurbishment. If you’re looking for some really modern simple home design ideas, have a read of what we’ve got below for you.
The Bedroom
The bedroom is often the last place people go to refurbish, but we believe it should be the first. The bedroom has so much potential that people ignore. It is the room you go to to have your escape from life’s problems. The place you go to to seek that all important relaxation after a hard day at work. And it is definitely the room we struggle to leave the most in the morning! For one, we think you need to consider the colour scheme that you’ve got going on. We think the more relaxing, the better with the bedroom. One we’re loving at the minute is cream or white walls, and one purple feature walls. For a feature wall, we recommend using wallpaper. Having a block colour isn’t the best, and there’s plenty of beautifully patterned purple wallpaper out there. Purple lighting fixtures is a must, but you want to contrast the darker colours with some nice light oak bedroom furniture. White bedding with some purple patterning on it, and a purple throw to finish the look will give the room the relaxing and mysterious vibe it needs.
The Kitchen
The kitchen for a lot of people is one of the most exciting rooms to refurbish, especially for us women. It all depends on what colours you like, and what style you’d prefer to go for. But we think modern is the best look at the minute. You’ll have to spend a fair bit of cash on this, but it’ll be worth it. First think about the colour scheme. One we like at the minute is the dark and light contrast. Dark grey or black floors, with white countertops and cupboards looks really stylish and modern. The kitchen cabinets are most likely going to be the cheapest part to sort, it’ll be the tiles that may set you back. Shop around and make sure you’re getting the best deal on both the tiles themselves, and the fitting service. If you’re ever stuck for some real life inspiration, there are plenty of kitchen showrooms that will be displaying all of the best modern kitchen designs that are circulating at the minute. But if you stick to the white and black contrast in the kitchen, we know you’ll be in love.
Those are just two simple home design ideas for two of the rooms in your house. There are many more out there to choose from if you’re looking for inspiration just check out this post for more guidance!
